五、教学过程
(一)Warming-up
1. Greetings
- T: Hello, boys and girls. Nice to see you again.
- Ss: Hello, teacher. Nice to see you too.
2. Free talk
- T: Do you have any plans for this weekend
- Ss: Maybe I will go to the park/watch TV/play games...
- T: That sounds great. What do you usually like doing in your free time
- Ss: I like reading books/playing basketball/listening to music... (Students answer freely)
- T: Oh, that's very interesting. Today we are going to talk about our hobbies and dream jobs.

(二)Presentation
1. Learn new words
- Show pictures of different activities on the PPT, such as painting, drawing, reading, writing, singing, dancing, playing sports, etc. Point to each picture and teach the corresponding words one by one.
- T: Look at this picture. What is the girl doing She is painting. So this is “paint”. Read after me, “paint”.
- Ss: Paint.
- Use the same way to teach other words like “draw”, “read”, “write”, “sing”, “dance”, “play sports”.
- After teaching the verbs, show pictures of different occupations, such as an actor, an actress, a singer, a writer, a painter, a doctor, a teacher, a nurse, etc. and teach the words.
- T: (Show a picture of a famous actor) Who is he He is an actor. “Actor”, say it.
- Ss: Actor.
- Explain the differences between “actor” and “actress” if necessary.
- Then, use the word cards to review the new words. Hold up a card and ask students to read the word quickly.
- Next, play a guessing game. Describe an activity or an occupation using simple English sentences and ask students to guess the word. For example:
- T: This person likes to use a pen to write stories. What is he/she
- Ss: A writer.

2. Text learning
- Open the textbook and turn to Lesson 1《My Hobby, My Dream Job》. Let students look at the pictures in the text and guess what the two students are talking about.
- T: Look at these pictures. What do you think they are talking about
- Ss: They are talking about their hobbies and dream jobs.
- T: Very good. Now let's listen to the tape and find out what their hobbies and dream jobs are.
- Play the tape of the dialogue in the text for the first time and ask students to listen carefully and just listen, not to read.
- After listening, ask students to answer the questions:
- What's Tom's hobby (Tom's hobby is painting.)
- What does Mary like doing (Mary likes reading and writing stories.)
- What do they want to be in the future (Tom wants to be a painter and Mary wants to be a writer.)
- Play the tape again and ask students to follow the tape and read the dialogue silently. While reading, they should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
- Then, ask some students to read the dialogue aloud in pairs. The teacher corrects their pronunciation and intonation if necessary.
- Explain the key sentences and difficult points in the dialogue. For example:
- “What's your hobby ” This is a common way to ask about someone's hobby. We can answer it with “My hobby is...” or “I like...”
- “I want to be a/an... because...” This sentence structure is used to express one's dream job and the reason. Explain the use of “a” and “an” before different occupations.

(三)Practice
1. Sentence pattern practice
- Show some pictures of different hobbies and occupations on the PPT and ask students to make sentences using the sentence patterns “What's your hobby My hobby is...” and “I want to be a/an... because...” For example:
- T: (Show a picture of a boy playing the guitar) What's your hobby
- S1: My hobby is playing the guitar.
- T: Very good. And what do you want to be in the future
- S1: I want to be a singer because I like singing and playing the guitar.
- Let students practice in pairs, using the pictures on the PPT to ask and answer questions. They can take turns to be the interviewer and the interviewee.
- After practicing for a while, ask some pairs to come to the front of the class and show their conversations to the whole class. The other students listen carefully and check if their sentences are correct.

2. Group discussion
- Divide the students into groups of four. Ask each group to discuss their own hobbies and dream jobs. They should use the words and sentence patterns they have learned to talk about why they have these hobbies and what they need to do to achieve their dream jobs. For example:
- S1: My hobby is dancing. I like dancing because it makes me feel happy and confident. I want to be a dancer in the future. I need to practice dancing every day and take some dancing classes.
- S2: I like playing basketball. My dream job is to be a basketball coach. Because I love basketball and I want to teach others how to play it well. I need to study more about basketball skills and coaching methods.
- While the students are discussing, the teacher walks around the classroom and offers help and guidance if needed. Encourage students to use more English expressions and share their different ideas.
- After the discussion, ask each group to choose a representative to report their group's discussion results to the class. The other groups can ask questions and make comments.

(四)Production
1. Writing
- Ask students to write a short passage about their hobbies and dream jobs. They should include the following information: what their hobbies are, why they like these hobbies, what their dream jobs are, and how they plan to achieve their dream jobs. The teacher gives some hints and guidance on writing, such as how to start, how to organize the paragraphs, and what kind of words and sentences they can use. For example:
- Introduction: My name is... I have many hobbies. Among them, my favorite hobby is...
- Body: I like... because... It makes me... My dream job is to be a/an... In order to achieve this goal, I need to... Firstly, I will... Secondly, I plan to...
- Conclusion: I believe that as long as I keep working hard, I will be able to realize my dream one day.
- After writing, ask students to read their passages aloud to their partners. The partners listen and give some suggestions and comments on each other's writings, such as grammar mistakes, spelling errors, and whether the content is clear and logical.
- Then, ask some students to share their passages with the whole class. The teacher gives feedback and evaluation, praising the good points and pointing out the areas that need improvement. Encourage students to continue to improve their writing skills.

2. Role-play
- Set up a situation: a career counseling event in the school. Divide the students into pairs, one student acts as a career counselor and the other student acts as a student who is seeking advice about his/her future career. The student who acts as the counselor should ask questions about the student's hobbies and interests, and then give some suggestions and advice based on the student's answers. They can use the words and sentences they have learned in this lesson. For example:
- Counselor: Hello, what are your hobbies
- Student: I like painting and I'm also good at math.
- Counselor: That's great. Maybe you can consider becoming an architect in the future. You can use your painting skills to design beautiful buildings and your math skills to calculate the structures. What do you think

1. Review the new words and sentence patterns learned in this lesson with the students. Write the words and sentences on the blackboard and ask students to read them aloud together.
- Words: hobby, paint, draw, read, write, sing, dance, play sports, actor, actress, singer, writer, painter, doctor, teacher, nurse, etc.
- Sentences: What's your hobby My hobby is...; What do you like doing I like...; I want to be a/an... because...
2. Summarize the main idea of the lesson. Emphasize the importance of having hobbies and how they can relate to our future dream jobs. Encourage students to pursue their hobbies and work hard towards their dreams.

3. Interview at least two family members or friends about their hobbies and dream jobs, and write down the conversations. You can use the sentence patterns we learned in class. Then share your interviews with your classmates in the next class.
