Dear Tom,
Hearing that you will come to China, I am writing to extend my warmest welcome.
Body language varies from culture to culture. For instance, when talking to the elderly in China, we usually look down to avoid eye contact as a sign of respect. On the other hand, some gestures have the same meaning. We favour shaking hands, smiling or nodding the head to greet someone, just as you do.
I deeply hope my introduction can be of great help to you.
Yours
Li Hua
Thanks!
