(1)Content Analysis
The topic of this module is choosing presents. The function is inviting and describing birthday parties. The grammar is adverbs of frequency. It develops listening, speaking,reading and writing by asking and stating birthday parties.In Unit 2 it talks about choosing birthday presents. It finishs by planning a classmate’s birthday party
(2) Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge Aims
(1)Words:
concert,magazine,dress,choose,wear,spend,film,expensive,money,…
(2)Phrases: stay healthy,get some exercise, like doing, go shopping, go to the cinema, on television, at weekends.
(3)Adverbs of frequency:
always, usually, often, sometimes, never
2. Ability Aims
Develop students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Train students’ abilities of communication
3. Emotional Aims
Stimulate students’ interest in learning English,learn to respect others and love others.
(3) Teaching keys and difficulties
a. Key points of this lesson
⑴ Learn some new words and phrases about birthday parties.
⑵Learn to use the adverbs of frequency.
b. Difficult points
The usage of adverbs of frequency and the present tense with the third person.

二、 Teaching Method Analysis
According to the New Curriculum Standards, the main instruction aim of learning English is to cultivate students’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language.
So in this lesson I’ll mainly use the task-based teaching method. That is to say, I’ll let the students learn in real situations to finish the task by making activities such as singing, guessing games, having a competition and so on.
三、 Analysis of Students
These students have come into middle school recently. They are exposed to English for the first time ,so it is very important to
develop their keen interest in English . It is necessary to use assistant teaching methods to arouse their attention.
So in this lesson, I’ll encourage them to take an active part in every activity including individual work, pair work, group work and class work, grasp every opportunity to communicate and coordinate with others.

Step 1 Warming up and lead in
1.Ask some students to act a dialogue about birthday.
(The purpose of doing this is to revise what they have learned in last lesson and warm the atmosphere by free talk.)
2.Look at the pictures on p50 and ask students some questions.
1) What present will you choose for your birthday
2) What will you choose for your family and friends
(By asking questions, we can attract students’ attention and prepare them for learning our passage.)
Step 2 Listen and answer the questions
1. What does the passage mainly talk about
2.How many people are mentioned in the passage
(By answering the question, the students can get a general idea of the passage.)
Step 3 Reading
1.Fast-reading
Ask the students to read the passage quickly to match the people with what they like doing.
Daming’s grandparents going to concerts
Daming’s mother going shopping
Betty’s cousin staying healthy
Tony’s sister watching films
Lingling’s aunt and uncle watching football matches
(By reading the passage quickly ,we can improve the students’ ability of getting information from the passage.)
2.Careful-reading
Read the passage carefully and choose presents from the pictures in Activity 1 for them.

(By doing the exercise, the students will have a better understanding of the passage.)
Step 4 Retelling

(The purpose is to consolidate the knowledge.)
Step 5 Discussion
Divide them into groups of four. One asks and the others answer.

C: My mother likes…… I usually buy her ……..
D: My friend Linda likes….. I usually buy her……..
(By discussing , the students will use what they have learned to express themselves and communicate with each other.)
Step6 Summary and homework
1.Summary
Ask the students to use some key words and phrases to make some sentences.
2.Homework
Ask the students to write a passage about choosing birthday presents.
(The students have input some knowledge. In this part, the students will output some knowledge to have a self-assessment.)
