The term “social phobia(社交恐惧症)” seems popular these days. Young people are describing themselves as having " social phobia". They prefer not to go out much, saying that it's hard for them to make new friends or socialize. But is this a "real" disease
In fact, this is just a reaction(反应)to certain social situations. The US researcher Ty Tashiro wrote the book Awkward : The Science of Why We're Socially Awkward and Why That's Awesome. He explains that some people don't "read" social situations correctly and then end up feeling uncomfortable.
For example, they might be afraid of breaking some kinds of unspoken rules. Therefore, they start to act awkwardly(笨拙地)because they don't want this to happen. This might make them unwilling to socialize. They prefer to stay in instead of going out to meet new people. But this doesn't mean they have "social phobia".
"Real social phobia", also known as social anxiety, is much more serious. People with social anxiety want to go out and communicate with people but are so afraid of doing it that they cannot leave their homes. Their brains simply won't allow them to communicate with others in a normal way. People with social phobia disease can even experience sudden fear. Luckily, social anxiety can be treated. Some people use self-help books to help them get more control over their minds. Therapy(心理治疗)can also help.
28. According to Paragraph 2, Tashiro's opinion about these young people means _______.

①It happened to me recently that I was telling someone how much I enjoyed reading Barack Obama's D reams from My Father and how it had changed my views of the former US president. The person I was talking to agreed with me that it was a wonderfully written book. However, he then went on to talk about Mr. Obama, which showed that he had no idea of his background at all. I realized that I was talking to a book liar.
②____▲___Nearly two thirds of people have lied about reading a book which they haven't read. In the World Book and Copyright(著作权)Day survey, Dreams from My Father is at number 9. But I am pleased to say that I have read the book at number one, George Orwell's 1984. I think it's absolutely outstanding.
③When people were asked why they lied, the most common reason was to impress someone they were speaking to. This could be difficult if the conversation went deeper!
④The World Book and Copyright Day survey also has some other interesting information in it. It shows that many people lie about having read classical works by Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens and so on. But when asked which writers they really enjoy, they named J.K. Rowling, Jilly Cooper and Stephen King (ah, the big sellers). Forty-one percent of people asked said they turned to the back of the book to read the end before finishing the story.

Snow White is the story of the Evil Queen who asks a huntsman to kill her stepdaughter. After the huntsman is unable to do the job, Snow White runs throughout the forest and finds a small house of seven dwarfs(小矮人). Hearing that the huntsman didn’t kill Snow White, the Evil Queen dresses up as an old beggar and gives Snow White a dangerous apple. Snow White falls into a deep sleep after eating the apple and is later woken up by a handsome Prince. They live happily ever after.
Most people today think of this story as a fairy tale(童话故事)for children, but it was first written for adults, In the original(起初的)tale, the Evil Queen is invited to the wedding of Snow White and Prince. As she arrives at Snow White's wedding venue, hot iron shoes are placed in front of her and she is forced to step into the burning shoes and dance until she drops dead. This ending is much darker than that in the Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The Disney film adds a child-like wonder to the tale with the dwarfs each being named and therefore they all have their own personalities: Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey.
Snow White is one of many tales by Brothers Grimm. Jacob Grimm and William Grimm were two young men from Germany who loved good stories. They collected traditional folktales from storytellers all over Germany. The brothers first wrote their stories for adults. Many of their early tales were dark and a little scary. Later, the brothers changed the text of some of the original stories. They "softened" many of the tales and added drawings. This made them better for kids.
____▲___In the darker version(版本) of the story Cinderella, the evil stepsisters each cut off their big toes and heels so they could wear the crystal shoes.
The modern Grimms' stories are read to children, but like the early tales, though, each story still has a theme: Work hard, be good and listen to your parents. And the theme of the story hasn't changed over time: Good will win in the end over evil.
36. In the first paragraph, the writer told the modern Snow White story _______.
A . to explain what happens to Snow White in the end
B . to give an example of a fairy tale for children
C . to give an example of a fairy tale for adults
D . to introduce an evil stepmother
37. The ending of the original Snow White by Brothers Grimm is _______.
A . the Evil Queen is killed by the dwarfs
B . Snow White is killed by the Evil Queen
C . Snow White becomes evil in the end
D . the Evil Queen dies in great pain
38. Which of the following sentences can be put in the “___▲____”
A . The story Cinderella, however, was first written for children.
B . Another example of such stories is Cinderella.
C . Not every Grimms' story has a dark version.
D . The Grimms' stories usually have a happy ending.
39. The best title for the passage can be “_______”.
A . Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
B . The Theme of the Story
C . Different Versions of Fairy Tales
D . Brothers Grimm
