教材分析
This section mainly consists of three parts, including the opening page, listening part and speaking part. The picture on the opening page is about the UN conference, below which is a quote from the famous psychologist Frank Smith. The picture aims to show the significant role that languages play in international communication and cooperation while the quote further illustrate that learning a foreign language ensure us a more promising future. Furthermore, it activates students' former knowledge and familiarize them with the topic of this section. The listening material in this section is a speech which mainly talks about learning a foreign language. By employing such writing methods as listing figures, using pronouns and conjunctions, the speech itself is organized logically and concisely, thus it can better attract audience' attention. Lastly, the speaking part inspires students to share their motives and reasons for learning a foreign language, through which it not only raise students' awareness of language learning, but also broaden their horizon. The thematic context embodied in the text is "human and society" and the thematic meaning of it is exploring the wide variety of languages around the world, heightened ethnic pride and realize the importance of language learning.
学情分析
The students are senior two students. They have equipped themselves with certain listening skills like listening for main idea and details, but they lack stylistic knowledge and have difficulty in understanding the pronouns based on the context. Moreover, their language competence needs further improvement, which may hinder them from expressing their ideas smoothly. However, they are willing and eager to cooperate with the teacher and express their thoughts bravely. As for the topic, students are familiar with language learning but the UN official language is relatively a new topic to them.
