儿子的决心。故选 D项。
25. 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“She counts herself lucky that they have similar interests. They
both enjoy the outdoors, the water and adventures. (她觉得自己很幸运,因为他们有相似的兴趣。
他们都喜欢户外活动、水和冒险。)”可知,Antrum和儿子有相似的兴趣,那就是都喜欢户
外活动。故选 A项。
26. 推理判断题。根据第一段中的“From Hawaii to Bali and the ski-slopes of Perisher,
26-year-old Jimmy Antrum has seen plenty of the world. But it has all been from the vantage point
(有利位置) of his mother’s back.(从夏威夷到巴厘岛,再到佩里舍的滑雪场,26岁的吉米·安
特鲁姆见识了世界上的很多地方。但这一切都是站在他母亲的背上。)”以及第四段中的“They
both enjoy the outdoors, the water and adventures.(他们都喜欢户外活动、水和冒险)”可知,
made to herself to give her disabled son the best life she possibly could, Niki Antram has spent
years travelling the globe with Jimmy clinging (紧贴) to her shoulders. (为了实现她对自己的承
诺,给她残疾的儿子最好的生活,妮基·安特鲁姆花了几年时间带着吉米周游世界。)”,结
合第三段中的“Ms. Antrum makes a meticulous (一丝不苟的) plan and calls ahead for every
venue she wants to visit—whether it is a restaurant or hotel.(安特鲁姆做了一个细致的计划,她

花了几年的时间带着儿子周游世界,并且去每一个地方都做好细致的计划,这说明 Antrum
是一个很有责任心的人。故选 D项。
27. 主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“From Hawaii to Bali and the ski-slopes of Perisher,
26-year-old Jimmy Antrum has seen plenty of the world. But it has all been from the vantage
point(有利位置)of his mother’s back. Fulfilling a promise she made to herself to give her disabled
son the best life she possibly could, Niki Antrum has spent years travelling the globe with Jimmy
D项“World Tour on the Back: A
Mother and Her Disabled Son(在背上环游世界:一个母亲和她的残疾儿子)”最能概括本文主
旨。故选 D项。

项。
30.主旨大意题。通过阅读文章第三段内容可知,首句“An atmosphere of honesty also
encourages growth in responsibility, leadership, and self-accountability.(诚实的氛围也鼓励责任

sincerely sorry that I will fail to make it due to some urgent affairs.
Unexpectedly, during this weekend, a crucial event will be held in my school. As a member
of the Student Union at my school, I have to serve as a volunteer and help to prepare for the event.
So important is this affair that my teacher won't allow me to quit. Thus, how about rescheduling
our meeting to next weekend, during which I will have more spare time to be with you
Once again, allow me to express my sincere apology to you. I'm looking forward to your
reply and meeting you next weekend!
Yours,

读后续写
Doris knew it was time to say goodbye to the dog. Recalling the nine days she spent with the
puppy, a mixture of worries and sadness swept over Doris. However, the dog wagged its tail and it
didn't know the cruel truth. When Doris hugged the dog and walked to her parents, she made one
last attempt to convince her parents to let her keep it. “ I really want to raise the dog. I can
accompany it for a long time and I will take care of it. Please!”· Mr. Lacey and his wife Mamie
looked at each other and finally agreed,“OK, you will take the responsibility for raising it.”
Doris put her hand to her mouth and couldn't believe what she had heard. Overjoyed and
speechless with happiness, she rushed to hug her parents and expressed her gratitude. Then she
named the dog Treasure and prepared a little home for it. Treasure wagged its tail happily as if it
knew that it was accepted by the family. Now Doris had a new friend. She beamed at Treasure,
anticipating the new life with the friend. It was on that day that Doris realized the love and
kindness would make a big difference.
听力材料
TEXT1
W: What’s on at the movies, John
M: Let me see, Mary. Ordinary Angels and Bob Marley: One Love are now showing at most
theatres. But there is something special at the Star Cinema—Kung Fu Panda 4 is on there.
W: Let’s go to the Star Cinema. The other two sound boring.
TEXT2
W: Good evening, sir. Can I help you
M: A table for five, please. We are expecting another two friends. They will be here at about six
o’clock.
W: OK. May I take your order
TEXT3
M: How was your room last night
W: Great. I slept like a baby. The bed is comfortable, and the rate is quite reasonable. Can I check
out now
M: Sure.
TEXT4
W: The weather is so changeable at this time of year. Just now we were bathed in sunshine,
enjoying the warmth. But look! A bank of clouds are rolling in. It looks like rain. I hope it won’t
ruin our day.
M: Don’t worry. The weather report says it will clear up soon.
W: Thankfully it will! I can’t stand the rainy weather.
TEXT5
M: Open your mouth wide, Sarah. I’ll have your teeth checked.
W: I hate any operation. Can you just give me some medicine for the pain
M: No worries. Nothing serious. Medicine will do. But do keep in mind that too many sugary
foods are bad for your teeth.
TEXT6
M: Mom, I’m ringing to tell you I’m at Tim’s house. Football practice finished early, so we
walked here together.
W: OK, well, it’s 5:30 pm now. I’ll drive and collect you at 6:00 pm.
M: Oh, there’s something good on television. Can you come and get me after it, at 7:00 pm
W: I can’t, Jack. I’ve got to pick your dad up from the station then.
TEXT7
{#{QQABTQiUggAAAIIAAAhCQwHoCAKQkBCACQgGQEAAoAABSRFABAA=}#}
M: Hey, Alice! What are you going to do
W: I’m going to meet David. You know I need to finish the final paper in three days, Ethan. So I
want him to lend me some reference books. I believe he won’t disappoint me.
M: Yes. I heard he is a warm-hearted guy.
W: Oh, by the way, I watched your team play last night and all of you did a great job.
Congratulations on your win!
M: We were just lucky to win the game. But thanks all the same!
TEXT8
W: Hi, Tom! It’s great to see you again.
M: Hi, Helen! Long time no see. Where did you go
W: Well, last week I flew to New York for two business meetings. After that, I flew to Atlanta,
where I had to make a presentation at a company conference.
M: It sounds like you’ve been busy.
W: Yes. It’s good to be home again. What have you been doing lately
M: Oh, nothing much. I’ve been working in the garden these past few days, because Gina has
gone to visit her relatives in Chicago. They haven’t seen each other since we settled in Denver.
W: How long have you lived here in Denver
M: We’ve lived here for four years and they’ve been the happiest years of our lives.
W: Evan and I also love this neighborhood. Though we’ve only lived here for two years.
M: That’s strange. I always thought you had lived here for more than ten years.
W: No, we moved here after you. Well, I have to get going. Have a good day.
TEXT9
W: Hi, Hank! What’s that book you’re reading
M: Hi, Anna. It’s about the teenagers who are thought of as heroes. I mean, lots of people think
nowadays a hero has to be someone like those in films. But I think there are plenty of ordinary
people around doing great things.
W: Mmm, I guess so. Those people can be heroes too.
M: That’s a bit like my granddad, then. He’s done all sorts of things to lend other people a hand.
To do this, he even left a large company and gave up a high-paying job. He’s surely my hero.
W: He sounds like one of those motivating heroes you find in storybooks.
M: Yeah, he is. And a storybook is one place where you do need proper heroes.
W: I’m with you there. I have read loads of storybooks which are close to reality and I surely
wouldn’t get to the end if they didn’t have heroes. Too boring.
M: Great writers can really help you to love reading. I mean, I wasn’t fond of reading until I found
my favorite. Still, it’s unusual to find writers that can do that—for me, anyway.
W: That’s right.
TEXT10
M: Russian designer Harry Nuriev’s latest sofa is made from a pile of waste bags. He wants it to
draw attention to waste things and how we use them. The piece was based on an idea he first
explored at a fair in 2019, when he presented a sofa made from old clothes. The project
commented on the fashion industry’s waste problem, which is mainly generated by cheap,
trend-responsive “fast fashion”. The project also drew a direct line between the waste problem and
the furniture industry. It’s estimated that 9 million tons of furniture are thrown away every single
year, and over 80% of it ends up in landfill. Add to that the carbon releases caused by producing
and shipping it, and the furniture industry looks like another threat to the global climate. With so
much waste furniture, brands that make typically “fast” furniture are announcing efforts to change.
Some companies commit to using only renewable or recyclable materials to cut carbon release.
Katie Treggiden, design expert and author of Wasted: When Trash Becomes Treasure, said that
having a long life has been a key selling message among responsible furniture companies for a
long time. She added they also need to offer repair and take-back service to give their products a
second life.

From Hawaii to Bali and the ski-slopes of Perisher, 26-year-old Jimmy Antram has “seen”
plenty of the world. But it has all been from the vantage point (制高点 ) of his mother’s back.
Fulfilling a promise she made to herself to give her disabled son the best life she possibly could,
Niki Antram has spent years travelling the globe with Jimmy clinging (紧贴) to her shoulders.
Jimmy was born with physical and mental disabilities, including blindness, and requires
round-the-clock care from Ms Antram. He has a wheelchair, but Ms Antram has never enjoyed
using it. She’s content to carry him while she’s physically able and helps him walk short distances
on his own. Incredible photographs taken around the globe show him clinging on as they hike
through mountains and rain forests.
Ms Antram makes a detailed plan and calls ahead for every place she wants to visit—whether
it be a restaurant or hotel.“Even if I know we will be okay, I like to inform the companies to make
sure they understand and are okay with having us there,” she says.
She counts herself lucky that they have similar interests. They both enjoy the outdoors, the
water and adventures. “From Hawaii to Bali I’d be staying out all night with Jimmy because he
was a party animal like me at the time,” she says. “I will find ways with Jimmy to get him the best
and most adventurous life.”
When they’re not travelling, they wake up in the morning and go for a bike ride—Jimmy in
the trailer while his mother peddles for them both—as the sun rises. The pair smile and wave as
they pass their neighbors. People who were once strangers have come to know and love Jimmy,
3
{#{QQABTQiUggAAAIIAAAhCQwHoCAKQkBCACQgGQEAAoAABSRFABAA=}#}
and admire Ms Antram. Before their early outing, she’s already made breakfast, fed Jimmy and
dressed him for the day. Her schedule is exhausting, but she’s determined to give Jimmy the best
life she can provide.
Ms Antram says her heart “broke” the day she learned her son was permanently blind and it
took a long time to overcome those feelings of hurt. “Being a mom, I didn’t get that carefree life
that most moms get,” she says. “I had responsibility.”
24. Why does Ms Antram carry Jimmy on her back instead of using a wheelchair
A. The wheelchair causes some inconvenience.
B. Jimmy prefers to enjoy scenery from her back.
C. Carrying Jimmy gives her a sense of anticipation.
D. She wants to show her commitment to loving her son.
25. What can we learn about Ms Antram and Jimmy
A. They both have an appetite for adventures.
B. They are sick of dealing with their neighbors.
C. They stay out sometimes to get closer to animals.
D. They are frequently rejected by different companies.
26. Which of the following can best describe Niki Antram
A. Ambitious and generous.
B. Curious and reliable.
C. Adaptable and well-known.
D. Strong-willed and responsible.
27. What might be the most suitable title for the text
A. Tour on the Road: Life Full of Adventures
B. A Great Mother: Love Heals Everything
C. Break the Disabilities: Blindness Can Never Hold You Back
D. World Tour on the Back: AMother and Her Disabled Son

Internal communication, also known as IC, refers to a group of processes responsible for
effective circulation of message within an organization. These messages are information that is
valuable to the organization and are supposed to be kept private. The means of transferring this
information is often done through emails, letters, notice boards, and even with the help of social
media like Skype, Zoom, and Google Meet, in the current times.
Honest internal communication is the healthiest way to keep your organization growing. With
honesty around the workplace, it is a safer environment for the employees to voice their opinions
which could help in the modification of a certain operation that might have been outdated. Other
than changes, not opening up to your colleagues can result in frustration and give rise to “gossip
culture” at the workplace. When information is not passed out with lucidity, not only does the
quality of work get affected but it also gives rise to questioning the worth of the time spent in the
company.
An atmosphere of honesty also encourages growth in responsibility, leadership, and
self-accountability. If the CEO of a company voices the shortcomings of his team in a respectful
manner, it would bring room for each and every employee to take it on a positive note and bring
about the change for the one common goal of development of the company that they are working
4
{#{QQABTQiUggAAAIIAAAhCQwHoCAKQkBCACQgGQEAAoAABSRFABAA=}#}
for. This brings about a lot of changes in the attitude of every individual employee since they start
seeing the company that they are working for as an asset that they cherish dearly.
In a workplace, things go both wrong and right, so it is important to both appreciate and
criticize when such situations occur from the end of both the leadership and the employees. The
positives should be celebrated while the negatives should be taken as positive criticisms that could
help the company grow into something better. The main goal of unity and development should
always be kept in mind.
28.Which is considered one main character of IC
A.It comes with the times of social media.
B.It exists within the leadership of a company.
C.It is often kept secret within an organization.
D.It needs a long and difficult process in most cases.
29.What does the underlined word “lucidity” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A.Clearness. B.Appreciation. C.Authority. D.Assistance.
30.What is the third paragraph mainly about
A.The main responsibilities of the CEO.
B.The importance of unity for a company.
C.The advantage of a powerful leadership.
D.The role of an honest leadership in a company.
31.What does the author suggest to us in a workplace in the last paragraph
A.Communicating both the positives and the negatives.
B.Taking responsibilities bravely for our mistakes.
C.Trying all possible means to avoid the negatives.
D.Strengthening unity mainly among the employees.

Mountain chickadees (山雀 ) have some of the strongest spacial memories in the animal
kingdom. New research reveals the genes involved and sheds light on how a changing climate
may influence the evolution of this particular skill.
In a new study, researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of
Nevada, Reno identify nearly a hundred genes associated with the birds’ spacial memory, or
ability to recall the locations of objects. The paper also suggests a potential balance may exist
between having a solid long- term memory and being able to quickly remove old memories to
form new ones.
Taylor, the director of CU Boulder’s Mountain Research Station and his associates at the
University of Nevada, Reno, lead by biologist professor Vladimir Pravosudov, designed a novel
technique to assess the spacial memory of wild mountain chickadees. They hung various feeder
groups in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, each with eight seed-filled bird feeders. Each
feeder has a gate equipped with a radio frequency reader capable of detecting a tag placed on
chickadees by researchers. The scientists then configured (设定) each gate to only open to specific
birds, forcing the chickadees to remember which feeders would open to them. Pravosudov and his
team then counted how many times each chickadee landed on the wrong feeders before they
recalled the right one.
Using blood samples, the CU Boulder team sequenced (测定序列) the whole genome of 162
5
{#{QQABTQiUggAAAIIAAAhCQwHoCAKQkBCACQgGQEAAoAABSRFABAA=}#}
tagged chickadees, resulting in the largest database ever collected for examining the genetic basis
of chickade’s cognitive ability. The team discovered 97 genes involved in chickadee spacial
learning and memory by comparing the birds’ genomes to their performance on the feeder test.
The findings could help biologists better understand the evolution of spacial memory in
animals, including humans. “It’s amazing,” said Scott Taylor. “They can remember tens of
thousands of locations where they store food across an entire winter and a new set of those the
next winter. Their spacial memory is much more developed than many other birds that don’t have
to have this strategy to survive cold winters.”
32. What do we know about mountain chickadees’ spacial memories
A. They are dominated by a hundred relevant genes.
B. They maintain a good balance in locating objects.
C. They are considered powerful in the animal world.
D. They might account for the slow change of climate.
33. What can a radio frequency reader do in the test
A. Lower the error rate of the chickadees.
B. Count the times each chickadee failed.
C. Collect the food information of a feeder.
D. Identify the chickadee landing on a feeder.
34. What does paragraph 4 focus on about the study
A. Blood sampling. B. Genes involved.
C. Ability comparing. D. Data gathered.
35. What does Scott Taylor imply in the last paragraph
A. Chickadees possess amazing evolutionary capability.
B. Many other birds should improve their spacial memory.
C. Food storage is vital to the survival of animals in winter.
D. Chickadees’ spacial memory carries them through winter.

By taking the time to do this, you allow yourself to register the positive aspects that you
experience. To help your brain store these positive events, you should take time each week to
analyze what you should be grateful for. ____38____
Repeat positive affirmations(肯定). One key element for increasing your levels of optimism
that you get with previous two steps is positive affirmations. In fact, these messages that you
repeat to yourself most regularly are the ones that you believe in and that determine your vision of

In a very cold January, a puppy wandered around Mr. Lacey’s house, where he lived with his
wife Mamie and their daughter Doris. Icicles(冰锥 ) hung three feet or more from the roofs of
houses and snow swallowed up cars.
The puppy had been abandoned, and it made its way down the road toward the Laceys’ small
house, with its ears down and trembling from shyness and cold. Doris, whose school had been
called off because of the snow, was clearing the steps when she spotted the puppy on the road.
“Come on, little dog!” she called it over. The puppy shyly wagged its tail when Doris
approached. As soon as Doris put the dog down in the kitchen, her mom, Mrs. Lacey, asked where
the dog came from. Mr. Lacey, who was cleaning his fingernails with his pocketknife at the table,
said,“I don’t know where it came from, but I know for sure where it's going.” Doris hugged the
puppy hard against her. She said nothing.
Because of the snowy weather, Mr. Lacey couldn’t take the puppy to the shelter right away.
So, it stayed in the basement, and Doris fed it leftovers, even though her mom didn’t want to
waste food. Doris thought the puppy was around six months old and would be quite noisy
sometimes. Surprisingly, the puppy behaved well, didn't cry or make trouble in the basement, and
only followed Doris upstairs when she invited it. Doris often found it on the basement steps
listening to the kitchen talk and smelling the food. She felt the puppy wanted company.
Even after a week, Doris didn’t name the dog, knowing her parents wouldn’t let her keep it.
Her father made so little money that any pets were out of the question. Desperate to keep the dog,
Doris tried to convince her parents by praising the dog's good behavior and expressing her love for
it, but her parents didn’t give a definite answer.
Despite her efforts, Doris secretly wished the bad weather would never go away, fearing the
puppy’s unavoidable trip to the shelter. However, nine days after the dog had arrived, the sun was
shining.
