I. Teaching aims and learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
learn something about Anne Frank ,The Diary of a Young Girl ,World War II and two more books about children in the war by listening , speaking and reading.
2. improve their listening skills.
3. describe a person’s experiences according to the timeline.
4. talk about the war with their own ideas.
5. enjoy life and cherish time.

1. To get certain information from listening materials;
2. To talk about the war with their own ideas.
III. Teaching procedures
A Anne Frank and World War II
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Watch a video about the Chinese military parade.
2. Learn new words and introduce the background
1)World War II break out in Europe in 1939 and ended in 1945.
2)Hitler was the leader of German Nazis.
3)Many Jews died in the Nazi camp.
4The Dairy of a Young Girl is the record of World War II .
Step 2 Presentation
Part A1
Before listening: Tip 1 Predict the answers
Tip 2 Write parts of the words.
How to write answers quickly
e.g. 1.admire → ad 2.courage → cou
(2)While-listening: Listen to Part A1 and then check the answers one by one
(3)Practice : Read Part A1 and answer the questions:
1) When was the book first published
2) How many languages has the book been translated into
3) Why is the book very important (record, symbol,victory. spirit)
2. Part A2
(1) Read through Part A2 and predict the answers.
(2) Listen to Part A2 and help Millie complete the timeline about Anne Frank.
(have sth. done)
(3) Try to make a report about Anne according to the timeline.
3. Part A3
(1) Millie wants to tell her classmates about Anne. Help her complete the article according to A1 and A2
(2) Enjoy a part of the Diary of a Young Girl
