I. Teaching Objectives

III. Teaching Methods

IV. Teaching Procedure
Step 1: Lead-in (5 minutes)
1. Show some pictures of different TV shows and movies on the screen, such as cartoons, news, thrillers, and ask students: "What kind of TV shows or movies do you like "
2. Guide students to answer with some simple words and then introduce the topic of today's lesson.
Step 2: Presentation (10 minutes)
1. Present the adjectives in 1a on the blackboard and explain their meanings one by one with examples and gestures. For example, for "educational", say "Documentaries are educational. They can teach us a lot of knowledge."
2. Ask students to look at the pictures of different TV shows and movies provided and choose the appropriate adjectives to describe them.
3. Invite some students to share their choices and explain why.
Step 3: Listening practice 1 (5 minutes)
1. Play the recording of 1b for the first time. Students just listen.
2. Play the recording again. Students listen and circle the adjectives they hear.
3. Check the answers together.
Step 4: Listening practice 2 (8 minutes)
1. Explain to students that they will listen again and this time they need to write down the words John and Mary use to describe the TV shows or movies.
2. Play the recording. Students listen and write.
3. Invite students to share what they wrote and correct the answers together.
Step 5: Pair work (10 minutes)
1. Ask students to work in pairs. First, they should tell their partner what John and Mary like to watch and why according to the listening materials.
2. Then, each student should share their own preferences for TV shows and movies and explain the reasons.
3. Walk around the classroom to offer help and guidance.
4. Invite some pairs to present their conversations to the class.
Step 6: Summary and Homework (2 minutes)
1. Summarize the key points of this lesson, including the adjectives and the expressions for talking about preferences.
2. Assign homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their favorite TV show or movie and why they like it, using the adjectives and sentence structures learned today.
