Different cultures have different ways to express politeness. In English-speaking countries, if you talk in a polite way, people will think of you as a gentleman. So I'd like to share a few of the most widely used polite expressions with you and show you how to use them correctly.
If you need to go past somebody who is getting in your way, you should use “Excuse me.”. Also, if you need to get someone's attention, you can start your conversation with“Excuse me. Could you ... ”.
“Sorry.” or “I'm sorry.” is often used when we need to say sorry for something small like our being late because of heavy traffic. It is a formal (正式的) expression.
