Spence r is known for cleaning up old houses across the country and sharing his work on social media. He accidentally found a yard while heading to another job. While clearing the overgrown grassland, Spencer discovered a seriously injured cat hidden deep in the grass. The cat had wounds under its arm and was unable to move. It seemed like it was ready to lie there until it passed away.
Eager to help, Spencer called several places, but none were willing to take the cat in. Finally, he reached out to Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary (收养所). The sanctuary, specializing in the care of injured, hurt, and abused cats, agreed to take the cat in and provide the necessary medical treatment. Moved by their kindness, Spencer decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign to support the sanctuary, aiming to raise $10,000.
Anissa Beal, the director of Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary, told that the sanctuary was to be shut down. He said $10,000 would be life- changing for the sanctuary. The sanctuary had been struggling financially (财政上), with Beal spending half of her income to keep it running.
Spencer's campaign drew a huge public response. Since sharing the GoFundMe link with his millions of followers, over $187,000 has been raised for Edgar and Ivy’s Cat Sanctuary. Additionally, four trucks loaded with donations arrived at the sanctuary, providing much- needed supplies.
“It was a miracle, and it makes me emotional to think that so many people could care about us and this cat and what we' re doing,” Beal expressed. “This is beyond anything I could have ever imagined.”
In return for Spencer's support, Beal offered him the opportunity to name a new building at the sanctuary. Rather than naming it after himself, Spence r chose to honor the community that made the sanctuary's future possible.
24. How was the cat when it was found
A. Blind and deaf. B. Unable to eat. C. Badly injured. D. Safe and sound.
25. What was Spencer's immediate action after finding the cat

AI is becoming more and more common in modern healthcare, especially in the field of radiology (放射学), where it can be used to analyse scan image (分析扫描图像). But while the radiology community, including children's radiologists, are generally positive about AI use, little attention has been paid to how children and young adults feel about using AI to analyse their own scan images.
A national study, led by UCL and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), asked children and young people aged 6 to 23 years old, across all four UK nations for their ideas on how they would like AI to be used in their healthcare.
The results of the survey showed that children and young people are cautious (谨慎的), but generally positive about AI. Young people didn't mind using AI in healthcare, especially if it could improve their care and outcomes. However, they wanted the tools to be directed by healthcare professionals as they feel there are something that AI cannot do and when faced between a human and computer, they would be more willing to trust the human.
Lead researcher, Professor Susan Shelmerdine and her team are hoping to develop AI tools that can create written reports direct from radiology images and allow patients to ask the AI questions about their imaging.
Professor Shelmerdine said, “The number of trained children’s radiologists in the UK is relatively small, so tools like AI could help upskill our workforce to enable more care for patients who don't have the chance to visit specialist hospitals like GOSH.”
“However, we cannot assume that we know what children want. It was encouraging to see that when asked, children and young people were positive about the use of AI in their healthcare, but it was also important to understand what was important to them— such as human oversight— so that we can factor this into the development of new tools and treatments,” Shelmerdine added.
28. Which question might children be asked to answer in the survey
A. Do you mind using AI in your healthcare
B. Do you know the benefit of AI technology
C. Are you cautious about the use of AI technology
D. Have you ever seen AI technology used in a hospital
29. What concerns young adults about AI in their healthcare
A. AI might cause harm to their health. B. AI may not be as trustworthy as humans.
C. AI will make human doctors lose their jobs. D. AI can cause more mistakes in radiology images.
30. What is the goal of the AI tools being developed by Shelmerdine's team
A. To attract more children's radiologists. B. To train workforce to care for more people.
C. To replace children's radiologists completely. D. To report radiology images in written forms.
31. What is Shelmerdine's attitude toward using AI in children's healthcare
A. Unclear. B. Positive. C. Cautious. D. Unacceptable.

One popular tool to help people understand their influence on climate change is a carbon footprint calculator (碳足迹计算器). There are many of these calculators online. You can enter details like what type of transportation you use to go to work, how often you eat red meat, and if you wash your clothes in cold water.
But some people think that focusing on your carbon footprint is not very useful. Instead, a new idea called the climate shadow (阴影) has become popular. This idea was first introduced by a writer named Emma Pattee from Portland, Oregon. The climate shadow looks at all of a person's choices and their influence on the planet. The bigger the shadow, the more positive influence a person has on the planet.
Pattee explained her idea, “Your climate shadow is like a dark shape that follows you everywhere. It counts not only how much air conditioning you use and how much gas your car uses, but also how you vote, how many children you have, where you work, how you invest your money, how much you talk about climate change, and whether your words make people feel urgent, indifferent, or in denial about climate change.”
For example, if you put solar panels (太阳能电池板) on your roof, your carbon footprint might get smaller. But your climate shadow would get bigger if you talk to your neighbors about your choice. Even just having solar panels on your roof can influence your neighbors to get their own. Studies show that people are more likely to install solar panels if their neighbors have them.
In other words, the climate shadow idea encourages actions that inspire others. Your climate shadow grows when your actions, even unknowingly, motivate others to take positive steps for the planet.
32. Who introduced the idea of the climate shadow
A. An environmental organization. B. A government organization.
C. Emma Pattee. D. A group of scientists from Portland.
33. What does climate shadow focus more on compared with carbon footprint
A. The practical result. B. The use of energy. C. The scientific meaning. D. The social influence.
34. What does the underlined word “install” in paragraph 4 mean
A. Replace. B. Fix. C. Sell. D. Improve.
35. What is the best title for this text
A. Understanding Your Climate Shadow B. Reducing Your Carbon Footprint
C. The Benefits of Solar Panels D. How to Use a Carbon Footprint Calculator

I was worried about missing school because I had an important science test that day. If it had been for math or English, I could have taken the test online, but I needed to be in the lab. Dad called my school and explained the situation, and, thankfully, my teacher said I could take the exam when I felt better. By lunchtime, I had developed a cough. So, together with Dad, I went to the hospital to do a medical test. It was unpleasant, but not too bad. I got the result the next day. Luckily! It was not very serious, but it was still a very bad cold. I was in bed for five days and didn't return to school until the following Wednesday. Anyhow, I passed my science test!

参考范文:
They not only diagnosed me correctly, but also treated me very well. It was happy to finally understand what was happening to my body and to know that there were steps we could take to manage the symptoms. With the help of the medical team, I started taking medications and doing therapies designed for my condition. Each day, I felt a bit stronger and more like myself. It was a long journey, but now I can breathe, walk, and talk on my own, living a full life. I even went back to school and completed my master's degree.
I went to see Grace before I left hospital. I wanted to thank her deeply for her kindness and for making sure I got the care I needed. When I approached her, I could see how much she cared for me. I thanked her sincerely, even though words couldn't fully express my gratitude. Grace just smiled warmly and squeezed my hand, silently reassuring me that she would always be there for me. Without Grace coming to my house that day, I didn't know what would have happened to me.
