1 名词短语
(1)定义
名词与它的修饰语一起构成名词短语,在句中作主语、宾语、表语等。名词的修饰语与名词
有两种位置关系:一是放在被修饰名词的前面,作前置定语;二是放在被修饰名词的后面,作后置定语。
(2)构成
① adj. + n. /n. + adj.
extra-curricular activities 课外活动 homeless people 无家可归的人们
advanced maths 高等数学 people present at the meeting 出席会议的人们
② n. + n.
the school football team 校足球队 a woman doctor 一名女医生
③ n. + and + n.
teachers and students 老师和学生
④ v. -ing + n. / n. + v. –ing

⑧ 限定词 + n.

在名词短语中对名词中心词起限定作用的叫限定词。限定词总是位于名词中心词之前。
(1)限定词与作前置修饰语的形容词同时修饰一个名词中心词时,限定词要位于形容词之前。
(2)一个名词前如果有两个或两个以上的限定词,那么这些限定词按先后顺序可分为前位、
中位、后位限定词。 all the four teachers(前 + 中 + 后)
both the twin brothers(前 + 中) those last few months(中 + 后 + 后)
① 前位限定词有 all,both,half,double,twice,one-third,what 等。
② 中位限定词有 a(n),the,this,that,these,those;my,your,his,her,its;some,
no,every,either,enough,what(ever)等。
③ 后位限定词有 one,two,...;first,second,...;next,last,other,another;many,
much,(a)few,(a)little,fewer,(the)fewest,less,(the)least,more,most;
several,such;plenty of,lots of,a great number of,a great/good many 等。
④若一个名词词组带有两类或三类限定词,则搭配关系为:前位—中位—后位。
如:half his lesson 他的课的一半,all the three students所有这 3 名学生,all other students
所有其他的学生,those last few boys 最后的那几个男孩。
另外,值得注意的是:一个名词前不可用两个前位或两个中位限定词。

形容词短语
(1)定义
以形容词为中心词的词组,前后可带有修饰成分。
(2)构成
① adj. +and/but/or + adj.
large and beautiful 大而美的 small but practical 小但实用的
② adv. 修饰 adj. 构成形容词短语
extremely cold 极其寒冷 really hard 确实困难
very handsome 非常帅的 quite long 相当长的
③ adj. + 介词
full of 充满 similar to 与……相似
different from 与……不同
④ adj. + 不定式
anxious to know 急于知道…… delighted to do 高兴做……
(3)功能
形容词短语作定语、表语、宾补和状语等。
① 作定语(后置)
Li Ming is a senior high school student always ready to help others.
李明是一名高中生,总是乐于助人。
②作表语
China is rich in natural resources. 中国自然资源丰富。
③作宾补
We found them tired and sleepy. 我们发现他们又累又困。
④作状语(往往用来说明主语或宾语的状态、性质、特征等,可位于句首、句中或句末,但
通常用逗号隔开)
Much interested,he agreed to give it a try.他很感兴趣,答应试一试。
After the war,the soldiers returned home,safe and sound.
战争结束后,那些士兵们安然无恙地回了家。
【学法点拨】
多个形容词修饰同一名词时的顺序:
冠词、指示代词、不定代词、物主代词 + 序数词 + 基数词 + 一般性描绘形容词 + 大小、长短、形状 + 年龄、新旧 + 颜色 + 国籍、出处 +材料 + 最终修饰的名词。
【口诀助记】
限定描绘大长高,形状年龄和新老;
颜色国籍跟材料,作用类别往后靠。
根据句意,用恰当的形容词短语完成句子
(1)The class was difficult,but the teacher was       (和蔼可亲).

3 副词短语
(1)定义
副词短语以副词为核心词,同时,整个短语在句子中仍然起着副词的作用。
(2)构成(很多构成和形容词短语构成类似)
①adv. + and/but/or + adv.
② adv. 修饰 adv. 构成副词短语
③ very/ quite/a lot/a little + adv.
④ adv. + enough
⑤ adv. + 介词
(3)功能
副词短语可修饰动词、形容词、副词和介词等,主要在句中作状语,表示时间、地点、方式等,还可作表语、定语、宾补等。
根据句意,用恰当的副词短语完成句子
(1)The little man runs        (快极了).
(2)I tried         (一遍又一遍).
(3) My grandma sat in the chair        (相当舒服).
