Ian Happ is a professional baseball player for a baseball team in the United States. When he first started playing for the team in 2017, he was looking for pictures to hang in his home. An idea and an unlikely partnership with a British artist came from that simple desire.
Happ wanted to show Wrigley Field, the team's ballpark, from a different artistic vision. He said that many baseball fans had been to Wrigley Field but had never seen what the ballpark looked like from the field. He thought looking up from the field was such a cool experience that he intended to bring that to more fans. So, from his point of view, he let the British artist Patrick Vale create three large drawings of Wrigley Field. Instead of having pictures hung in his home, the partnership led to something quite different.
It was Happ's project "Through My Eyes", in which fans could purchase prints. The money made in this way went toward helping those people in need. The drawings were part of Vale's "See What I See" exhibition at a gallery in Chicago. The show lasted a period of time.
Happ ever brought Vale to Chicago in September of 2018 and showed him around Wrigley Field. Vale knew little about the sport of baseball, but he understood the connection fans had with Wrigley Field. Happ had to explain to Vale the meaning of the 400-foot sign in the center field and the iconic manual scoreboard (手动计分板). He had to teach Vale the correct position of the players. Happ also explained what it felt like when he stood in the field under the bright lights with aloud crowd.
Vale took pictures and used them to help him create drawings in great detail. He was very modest and sent rough drawings to Happ, who marked them up in red ink, like a teacher, with suggestions. It was in this way that their cooperation was so successful.
24.What did Happ ask Vale to do
A. Join the baseball team.
B. Find a different baseball field.
C. Create three pictures of his home.
D. Draw the ballpark from Happ's viewpoint.
25.What is the function of "Through My Eyes"
A. To do charity. B. To hold an exhibition.
C. To attract baseball fans. D. To promote the painting trade.
26.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A. What Vale explained to Happ.
B. How Vale corrected Happ's mistakes.
C. How Happ and Vale felt about the field.
D. How Happ introduced Vale to Wrigley Field.
27.Which word can best describe Vale
A. Humble. B. Humorous. C. Casual. D. Conventional.

Jason M. Allen was almost too nervous to enter his first art competition. Now, his award-winning image is stirring debates about whether art can be generated by a computer, and what, exactly, it means to be an artist.
In August 2022, Allen, a 39-year-old game designer who lives in Pueblo West, Colorado, took first place in the "digital arts/digitally manipulated photography" category at the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Competition. His winning image, titled Thé tre D'opéra Spatial, was made with Midjouney —an artificial intelligence system that can produce detailed images when fed written prompts(提示).
Allen's winning image looks like a bright cross between a classical and modern painting. It's one of three such images he submitted in the competition. Allen excitedly posted his win on August 25, along with pictures of his three entries. It spread quickly online, with many artists feeling angry about Allen's win because of his use of AI to create the images." He just pressed a few buttons to make a digital art piece," one online user wrote. "We're watching the death of art unfold before our eyes."
However, to get the final three images, Allen took over 80 hours. First, he played around with phrasing that led Midjourney to generate images of women in nice dresses and space helmets. Over time, with slight adjustments to his written prompts, he created 900 repetitive processes of what led to his final three images. He gave the final touches to those three images in Photoshop. Then he ran the images through another software program called Gigapixel AI that can improve resolution(分辨率)and had the images printed at a local print shop.
Allen is glad that the debate over whether AI can be used to make art is getting so much attention. "Rather than hating the technology or the people behind it, we need to recognize it's a powerful too and use it for good so we can all move forward," Allen said.
28.What do we know about Thé tre D'opéra Spatial,
A. Its beauty is widely appreciated.
B. Its creation is an easy process.
C. It shows the death of traditional art.
D. It has caused a lot of arguments.
29.What did Allen do to create his entries
A. He searched for smart written prompts.
B. He edited his final images in Photoshop
C. He fed famous paintings to Midjourney.
D. He developed the software named Gigapixel AI.
30.What is Allen's attitude to the AI-created art
A. Worried. B. Indifferent. C. Positive. D. Annoyed.
31.What's the main idea of the text
A. AI beats human artists in the art field.
B. The artist from Pueblo West is defending his works.
C. An artist won the State Fair Art Contest and laughed.
D. An AI-created image won an art contest and sparked heated debates.
D
Body language is an essential part of communication and can be just as important as our spoken language. Body language can be both conscious and unconscious actions, so it is important to make sure your body is sending the same messages as your words to ensure good communication. These actions can strengthen the verbal messages you're sending or they can lead to mistrust and confusion—signs of poor communication and misunderstanding.
Body language can make interacting with others and expressing yourself much easier, but it can also introduce new challenges. Some nonverbal signs unintentionally communicate parts of us that we don't want others to know. For example, bad posture or fidgeting (坐立不安的) may communicate lack of confidence, something we may not intend others to know. But body language can strengthen our verbal messages and solidify what we are telling others. Making eye contact or taking notes while someone is speaking can communicate genuine (真正的)interest. Without these signs, teachers may not be able to assess a student's understanding.
When you're speaking sincerely, it's natural for your body language to respond to your words through gestures or facial expressions. We also use gestures in conversations to tell stories or describe objects often using hand signals to show how big or small something is. These are largely unconscious, naturally occurring forms of body language.
It can be difficult to communicate confidence in your actions when you may not feel it internally. When you display confident body language, such as good posture or eye contact, even if you're making a conscious effort, studies have shown that it can make you feel more confident. When speaking to others, practice controlling the impulse(冲动) to fidget and planting your feet confidently to increase self-esteem.
32.What will your body language tell if it can't go with your speech
A. Probable disbelief. B. A dull speech.
C. An unclear condition. D. True meaning behind words.
33.Why does the author give some examples in Paragraph 2
A. To show body language can help us all the time.
B. To tell body language can show the true side of us.
C. To explain how challenging it is to read body language.
D. To tell teachers how to judge a student's understanding.
34.What can we know from the last two paragraphs
A. Hand signals are essential ways to make us understood.
B. Naturally occurring forms of body language make us confident.
C. Proper body language can help us a lot in gaining confidence.
D. When speaking to others, try your best to hide your body language.
35.What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Communicating with Body Language
B. Understanding Others by Body Language
C. Being Smart in Showing Your Body Language
D. Cetting to Know Your Friends Through Body Language

I grew up in a poor family with six brothers, three sisters, my father and mother. We had little money and few goods, but plenty of love and attention. I was happy and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still afford a dream.
My dream was athletics. By the time I was sixteen, I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour fastball and hit anything moving on the football field. And I was so lucky that my high-school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me, but often told me “Dream is priceless”. However, when I was about to get off the ground, one particular incident happened, which almost ruined my long-held dream.
It was the summer holiday in senior two and a friend recommended me for a summer job. I was offered $12.25 per pared with the average $3.5, that was a big sum. I was so excited, because this meant a chance for money in my pocket, certainly money for a new bike and new clothes, and the start of savings for a house for my mother. The prospect(前景) of the job was inviting, and I wanted to jump at the opportunity.
Then I realized I would have to give up summer baseball training to handle the work schedule. I didn't dare to tell my coach, I thought of the advice my mother often gave me when I lacked courage, "If you make your bed, you have to lie in it." I decided to talk to my coach in person. After all, my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his disappointment to me.

第四部分 写作
第一节
答案:
The Person I Admire Most
Dear fellow students,
There are many respectable people around us. And the person I admire most is Mrs Wu aged 30, my English teacher, who has been teaching English for 6 years.
Mrs Wu is kind and considerate towards us students just like our dear mother. Once, one of my classmates got injured accidentally and without hesitation Mrs Wu took him to hospital for medical treatment at once. What impresses me most is that she always tries new ways to make her classes lively and interesting. Also, she is very patient with us and always helps us find solutions to problems when we turn to her for help. With her help, our English has made rapid progress.
In my eyes, Mrs Wu is more than our teacher. She’s also our best friend. That’s why she deserves our respect.
That’s all. Thank You!
第二节
答案:
Paragraph 1:
I gathered my courage and knocked at his door. As expected, his face turned purple immediately. He glared at me like a bull. "You have your whole life to work," he said, "but your playing days are limited. You can't afford to waste them." I stood before him with my head down. "How much will you be paid " He asked. "$12.25 per hour." "Well," he shrugged. "Is $12.25 an hour the price of a dream "
Paragraph 2:
That question reminded me of what my coach used to say. Yes, dream is priceless. It's stupid to earn pocket money at the expense of my dream. I held my head high and said firmly, "Sorry, Mr. Jarvis. I know what to do next." My coach smiled with great satisfaction. That summer I dedicated myself to baseball training. And one year later, I obtained a baseball scholarship to the University. I knew I would soon buy my mum a house. Thankfully, I made a right choice. Without Mr. Jarvis, I would never know I could afford a dream.
