In my opinion, the wheel is the most important thing that human beings have ever invented. It might seem weird to say that something so simple-looking and so ordinary(普通的) could be so important. But if you consider the following points, you will probably agree with me.
Firstly, wheels influence almost every part of our lives.Wheels are used, for example,in clocks, engines(发动机) and transport(交通工具).If you visit just one factory, you will see how important wheels are.You will see wheels on almost every machine.
Secondly, wheels play a great part in food production.Wheels are used to grind(磨碎) different kinds of corn into flour(粉状物).They are then used to mix flour and other foods into bread. We would all have to make our own bread, starting with grinding the wheat(小麦),if we did not have the wheel. In fact,we would have to grow the wheat because there would be no way to transport it.
Thirdly, our world would be completely different if we did not have the wheel for transport. Before the wheel was invented, people used to have to travel on foot or by riding on an animal. That is what we would be doing now if we did not have the wheel.
We would be back to the Stone Age if some of our clever ancestors(祖先) had not invented the wheel. Our modern world would simply be impossible. The wheel is surely the most important invention of all time.

According to UNESCO,a large number of children in villages in some African countries don't go to school. They have to work to make money for their family. And more than half of the people in these countries live without electricity.
A company is now working to solve both of these problems. It has created a special solar power station, which is in the shape of a cow, called “Solar Cow”.The company encourages parents in those poor villages to send their children to school by setting up Solar Cows at schools.
Just as its name suggests, the Solar Cow can charge batteries(给电池充电) called “Solar Milks”.The Solar Milks provide electricity for the families.
The batteries can only be charged using the Solar Cow,so children have to go to school to get the electricity.Every day, children put their batteries into the bottom of their school's Solar Cow.They go to class while the batteries are being charged. At the end of the day, they take the charged batteries home.
Each fully charged Solar Milk battery can charge a mobile phone three or four times,or a radio once or twice. The battery is also a flashlight, and it can provide ten hours of light.“My father used to travel two to three hours to the charging shop to charge his phone, and it cost a lot,” a boy said.“But now,he can use the battery I bring from school to charge his phone at home.”

In my opinion, the wheel is the most important thing that human
beings have ever invented. It might seem weird to say that something so
simple-looking and so ordinary(普通的) could be so important. But if
you consider the following points, you will probably agree with me.
Firstly, wheels influence almost every part of our lives.Wheels are used,
for example,in clocks,engines(发动机) and transport(交通工具).If you
visit just one factory, you will see how important wheels are.You will see
wheels on almost every machine.
Secondly, wheels play a great part in food production.Wheels are used
to grind(磨碎) different kinds of corn into flour(粉状物).They are
then used to mix flour and other foods into bread. We would all have to
make our own bread, starting with grinding the wheat(小麦),if we did
not have the wheel. In fact,we would have to grow the wheat because there
would be no way to transport it.
Thirdly, our world would be completely different if we did not have
the wheel for transport. Before the wheel was invented, people used to
have to travel on foot or by riding on an animal. That is what we would
be doing now if we did not have the wheel.
We would be back to the Stone Age if some of our clever ancestors
(祖先) had not invented the wheel. Our modern world would simply be
impossible. The wheel is surely the most important invention of all time.

A Bright Idea
Evans Wadongo was from a village of Africa. He had to do
homework by the light of a kerosene lamp(煤油灯).Evans' eyes
hurt and this made studying difficult. It was common in his village. Many
children left school for this reason…so they remained poor for the rest of
their lives.
Although studying was difficult,Evans was an excellent student and

this time,he realized it was not just bad for schoolchildren but for the
whole family.First,it can cause illnesses such as coughs. Also, the light
can hurt people's eyes.Besides,it can lead to fires.Lastly, kerosene is
expensive,so families have less money for food.It was difficult to come
up with a different kind of lamp that was cheap and good for the
environment.Yet Evans did not give up.
One day,he had an idea.He could use a small solar(太阳能的)
light.Sunlight is free and solar power is good for the environment.Evans
built his first solar lamp, and it worked. He began to build more lamps
and sent them to local families. An organization heard about this and
provided money for him to build more solar lamps.
Each lamp only cost $20.However,this was a lot of money to many
villagers who only earned around$34 a week,so Evans made sure he kept
the cost down.First,Evans used recycled materials.Next, volunteers built
the lamps. Finally, people from many countries gave away money to his
team,so the lamps were usually free.
