一、Teaching Objectives 1. Skill Objectives Improve students' reading skills, including skimming, scanning and detailed reading. Enable students to describe their own or others' past and present situations using the target language. 3. Emotional Objectives Help students realize that everyone can change and grow, and encourage them to face challenges bravely and embrace positive changes. 二、Teaching Key and Difficult Points 1. Teaching Key Points Understand the main idea and details of the passage. Master the usage of the key words and phrases related to personal changes. Use the target language to describe personal changes. 2. Teaching Difficult Points Analyze the reasons for the character's changes and express one's own opinions. Show some pictures of famous people's past and present, and ask students to guess who they are and describe the changes. For example, show pictures of a celebrity when they were young and now, and guide students to say, "He/She used to be..., but now he/she is...." 2. Ask students to think about their own changes and share with the class. Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Present the title of the passage "From Shy Girl to Pop Star" and ask students to predict what the passage might be about. 2. Introduce some background information about the topic and key words such as "background, interview, Asian". Step 3: While-reading (20 minutes) 1. Skimming (3 minutes) Ask students to read the passage quickly and answer the question: Who is the main character in the passage 2. Scanning (5 minutes) Have students scan the passage and find out the main events or changes in the character's life. Detailed Reading (12 minutes) Divide the class into groups of four. Each group is assigned a paragraph to read carefully and discuss the following questions: What problems did the girl have in the past How did she deal with those problems What advice would you give to someone like her After the discussion, invite representatives from each group to share their answers. Step 4: Post-reading (10 minutes) 1. Language Points (3 minutes) Explain the key words, phrases and sentence structures in the passage, such as "dare to do sth., in public, deal with, require". Have students make sentences using these words and phrases. 2. Discussion (4 minutes) Ask students to think about the following questions: Do you think it's good to change Why or why not What kind of changes do you want to make in the future Encourage students to express their opinions freely and have a group discussion. 3. Summary (3 minutes) Summarize the main content of the passage and the language points learned. Ask students to retell the story of the girl's changes in their own words. Step 5: Homework (5 minutes) 1. Write a short passage about your own changes or someone else's changes, using the target language. 2.
