It was the first day of senior year. A million thoughts went racing through my head: What should I wear What will my classes be like Will I be lost on the campus All of these questions were going back and forth all morning long. After I finally relaxed and decided to get ready, I decided to take a deep breath first.
“Hurry up! My boy.” Mom called me. I looked at my phone’s clock hurriedly and saw that there was little time to have something to eat! After the breakfast, I hurried to the school gym only to see a lot of new faces in the building. I comforted myself and went to the school hall for the headmaster’s lecture. Then I went to the agricultural (农业的) classroom for Agricultural Construction (建设) Technology. I learned quickly all of the “dos” and “don’ts”. As I was there, I was surprised to see that it wasn’t a big class. There was only six students including me.
When thirty or so minutes had passed I made my way up the stairs to the history classroom for Government, a class that I knew I had to have if I wanted to graduate. As I sat down at a seat and I found it was the biggest class I had ever had but decided that I just had to go with it and get it over with. Finally when the bell rang for that period, I thought it was fruitful.
As I stepped off the school bus at noon, I knew that Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School would be my home for the next three years. BrewTech is among the top five schools in the state, so I knew I would have big shoes to fill.
4. What happened to the author on the morning of his first senior school day
A. He was too late to eat. B. He felt quite nervous.
C. He was really excited. D. He was lost in the new school.
5. What did the author do first in the senior high school
A. He went to the gym. B. He learned some rules.
C. He listened to a lecture. D. He visited the headmaster.
6. What’s the author’s impression of the history class
A. It’s useless. B. It’s difficult. C. It’s beneficial. D. It’s unnecessary.
7. What did the author think his life would be
A Beautiful. B. Challenging. C. Uncomfortable. D. Fruitful.
C
The best days of my life were spent when I was in my 20s, mostly because it was when I met lots of my lifelong friends. I was living in Charlottesville and in a house next door to one of my best friends and downstairs from another. The years there were amazing. We were surrounded by my favorite people, having drinks, laughing and dancing late into the night.
Plenty of time has passed since then. Now my husband and I have two kids and we live in New Jersey. My friends have also found their life partners — one still lives in Virginia and the other lives near D C. We make sure to see each other three times a year, so often that our children believed they were cousins. We happily call each one of these trips “Family Vacation” because family seems like a better analogy (比喻) for our relationship than friends.
Family is obviously very important, but ”family” can be just as important or even more important if you don’t have a lot of actual family around. But why are close friendships so important And why do we need then in the first place
There are many advantages to having friends. Scientists have reasoned that friendships must have some benefits for humans and animals. Although scientists don’t like to use the word “friend” when they talk about animals, there is evidence that some animals do have friends. Any pet owner knows that animals like having playmates. Play is quite common in many animals, and there is evidence that playing with friends might help with brain development. In fact, play is most prevalent among animals with large brains, and the period when animals are most likely to play also happens to be the time when the largest amount of brain growth happens.
8. What did the author treasure most when she was in her 20s
A. Living with her family. B. Having a wonderful job.
C. Staying with her best friends. D. Studying in her dream university.
9. Why did the children believe they were cousins
A. They looked alike, B. They had the same hobbies.
C. They were told about it. D. They often visited each other.
10. What is the function of playing with friends according to the passage
A. It helps brains develop. B. It holds friends together.
C. It largely reduces pressure. D. It makes people stay healthy.
11. What does the underlined word “prevalent” mean in the last paragraph
A. Unusual. B. Popular. C. Unbelievable. D. Suitable.
D
There are over 400 kinds of sharks living around the world. Some live in deep, cold water. Others live in shallow (浅的), warm water. They are all considered fish.
Some other things that help tell different sharks are fins (鳍), gills (鳃) and teeth. There are sharks with fins on their backs. Others have fins on their backs and undersides. All sharks have gills. But the number of gills differs from five to seven. Sharks have a very sharp sense of smell. Shark teeth can be flat and sharp. Sharks are born with teeth and they grow new ones. Some can have thousands of teeth, Can you imagine such a mouthful
Another important difference between sharks is where they live. Most sharks live in the oceans. There are a few kinds that can live in slightly salty water. Others have learned to survive in fresh water. Some can travel between salty and fresh water.
Before getting worried about sharks in your favorite local rivers or lakes, let’s see where some of freshwater sharks live. Bull sharks are probably the most general common and dangerous. They are salty water fish that can survive in fresh water for long periods. We find them many miles inland in rivers like the Mississippi, Zambezi, and Nicaragua. Spear-tooth sharks live in both salty and fresh water. We find them around Australia and New Guinea. Ganges sharks live in rivers in India, Bangladesh, Borneo and Myanmar. They have eyes on top of their heads, unlike other sharks whose eyes are on the sides, Last, there is the Greenland shark. These sharks grow very large and live a long time. Researchers regularly see Greenland sharks in Canadian rivers.
These sharks show how some animals have learned to live in other places. Can you do this What other animals can you think of that have this skill
12. What do we know about sharks
A. They are not fish. B. They are expert at smelling.
C. They have seven fins. D. They have gills on backs.
13. Where do most sharks live
A. In salty water. B. In slightly salty water.
C. In fresh water. D. Between salty and fresh water.
14. Why are many different sharks mentioned in paragraph 4
A. To present the large number of kinds.
B. To show how sharks developed in the fresh water.
C. To give examples of sharks living in the fresh water.
D. To tell us the living conditions of the sharks.
15. What is mainly talked about in this text
A. Kinds of Sharks B. Differences Between Sharks
C. Development of Sharks D. Living Habits of Some Sharks

The first time I attended my son’s parent-teacher meeting was in third grade. I was rushing from the seafood market, and my clothes were dirty because of fish and other sea food. Even though I took a taxi, I still arrived late. I was laughed at by some parents and kids for my poor look. I met some uncomfortable looks, and with a sense of sadness and pity, I walked to his seat. My son, on the other hand, cleaned the sweat (汗水) from my forehead and handed me his little water bottle, saying, “Mummy, have some water!” In a flash, his thoughtfulness impressed so many people.
After the parent-teacher meeting, my son’s teacher asked me to stay back a while longer, but he explained why I had to leave early. “My mother has to go home to cook for my grandparents, so can she leave first I’ll tell her everything you have to say when I come home, and I promise I won’t miss a word!”
The teacher said, “There are more than 40 children in the class, and your son Han Liu is heartbreaking to me; he is so understanding and helpful. Can a child like this not be successful in the future You must be a great example in your family.” I shook the teacher’s hand and held it as I explained. “Han Liu’s father was hit in a car accident, and both of his grandparents are on the bed all year round, so I can’t take care of Han Liu at all. Since he could walk, he has been caring for his grandpa, grandma and father.” The teacher was so amazed.

【答案】Dear Hank
Learning that you are confused about what clubs to choose in senior high school, I want to share my opinions about it with you.
Clubs are not only a good place to develop our talent and interest, but also a platform to make friends and improve your social skills. So before you make a decision, ask yourself what you like best and what you can do better. You can also take your future career into consideration. Besides, learn about the club, especially its time and then decide whether it is suitable for you.
Hope you’ll find my view helpful and choose your best club.

On the way home, I couldn’t stop crying thinking of all the little moments of my son’s life. Life was really hard for me. There was little time for me to think and relax. But the little boy grew little by little, And he really tried his best to help me, Those warm moments of the little boy cleaning our house and so on crossed in my mind. Suddenly all my complaints about life and pity for myself disappeared. I realized life had presented me with so many misfortunes, but it also gave me my dear son.
I was waiting downstairs for my son to come home from school with a clean look. When he saw me, his mouth opened into an O-shape and said, “Mum, are you going on a date ” I answered, “I’m not going on a date! No matter how dirty and tiring my work may be, I still have to present myself nicely and not lose the respect of others for you. So how does your mum look since I’ve cleaned up ” He immediately jumped up and said, “Wonderful! When I grow up, I will find a wife like my mum.” At that moment. I wanted to hug him. Although he was small and very thin, he was already a handsome young man in my heart.
