Pete didn't like losing at anything. He thought losing was the worst thing that could happen to anyone. So he only played games that he was good at, like table football.
A new kid studied at Pete's school, and his name was Albert. Albert was a table football player, and Pete and Albert agreed to play a game together. Pete prepared for the match with great seriousness. Albert, however, didn't seem to take the thing seriously at all. On the football table, Albert was excellent. He scored goals again and again, laughing and joking all the time. However, Albert was paying so little attention to the match that Pete managed to change the scoreboard while Albert was looking elsewhere, and Pete won in this way.
Pete's big win was the talk of the day. But Pete didn't feel happy. Pete found Albert hadn't felt bad about losing. He seemed to enjoy it.
For several days, Pete kept his eye on Albert. He was great at some things and terrible at others but he enjoyed everything. Pete began learning how to enjoy a game without thinking about winning or losing.

I spent most of my last summer holiday in California on the beach. However, one day I tried something different — to go on a day trip to Rankin Ranch(牧场). Rankin Ranch has been a family business since 1863, and the family makes money from both the animals and the guest house.
I fell in love with the place as soon as I arrived. The people working there walk around in jeans and cowboy hats — not as part of a tourist show, because that's the most proper way to dress for the work they do.
The first thing I did when I got there was to eat lunch. You won't be surprised to hear that there is one thing on the menu: steak (牛排). To be honest, every steak I've eaten since then has been a bit disappointing (令人失望的).
You’d think an afternoon and evening on a ranch wouldn’t offer much, but the short visit was filled with activities. The first thing after lunch was a riding tour of the ranch. The horses are well- trained and perfect for beginners. Later, I learned how to tie and throw a lasso(套索). And finally I learned to build a campfire. I can't say I was very good at either of those things, but it was fun giving them a try! By the end of the day, I was tired but happy. If I go to California again, I'm going to pay a visit to Rankin Ranch again. It's better than any beach!
( )9. The workers on the ranch wear jeans and cowboy hats to .
A. join in a show B. look handsome
C. do their work better D. make more tourists come
( )10. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 mean
A. Steak has different tastes. B. The ranch's steak is not delicious.

A. c-a-e-b-d B. d-c-a-e-b
C. c-e-a-d-b D. d-a-c-b-e
( )12. What's the best title for the passage
A. My trip to a ranch. B. A family of great people.
C. The most delicious steak. D. Things to do on the beach.

What is a robot A robot is a machine with many different parts. It must have some kinds of motors(马达) to help it move. A robot also needs sensors(传感器) to help it learn about what is going on around it.
Many robots are working in factories. They are helpful because they can do jobs faster than people. Robots are common in factories building things like cars. They quickly put parts together and cut things exactly right. People can make mistakes on things like that, but robots do not. If their instructions(指令) are right, then they always do the same thing over and over.
Robots are also useful to scientists. They can go to dangerous places. Scientists use robots to check dangerous places, like deep underwater environments. Robots also explore space. Scientists have sent robots to the moon and to Mars. These robots look like little cars.
Some robots help doctors. These robots have very small parts. They can help the doctor find out what is wrong inside a person's body. Robots can fill pill(药丸) bottles to make sure people get the right medicine.
Some robots help the police and soldiers. These robots do dangerous work. They help find bombs(炸弹). This keeps more people safe. There is a person controlling the robot and staying far away from the bomb. If the bomb blows up, the police officer or soldier does not get hurt.
Robots are really wonderful machines that help with different jobs, making work quicker and simpler. They play an important role in making our lives easier and safer.
( )13. Which question does Paragraph l mainly answer

It is usually hard for people to learn a new language, but don't worry. There are more and more ways for people to learn it. For example, if you are learning Spanish(西班牙语), there are some ways to help you.
The first way: find someone to talk with
You need to talk with someone who can speak Spanish as much as possible. The more you speak, the easier it will be for you to master(掌握) it.
The second way: look up a dictionary
There are lots of dictionary apps now. I have had one free app on my phone for three years. It's called SpanishDict. It's the world's largest online Spanish-English dictionary. I use it to look up words I don't understand while reading Spanish books.
The third way: don't be afraid to make mistakes
In a place like Madrid(马德里),a lot of people in hotels and restaurants will talk with you in English, but you can reply to them in Spanish. Don't feel nervous and please be brave. Although you may make mistakes and feel shy, they will be happy to talk with you if you speak Spanish. Imagine that a person who can't speak Chinese well talks with you in Chinese. Will you laugh at his or her mistakes
41. Why should Spanish learners talk with people in Spanish as much as possible
42. How long has the writer had the dictionary SpanishDict
43. What language do people in hotels and restaurants talk with you in in Madrid
44. How do you learn a new language Why Write 30 words or more.
