《小王子》练习
一、阅读理解
(23-24九年级下·江苏扬州·阶段练习)“All grown-ups were once children but only few of them remember it.” It’s a thoughtful sentence from a famous book, The Little Prince. The book first came out in 1943 and it was written by the French writer, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944).
The main character lives on the planet B612 alone. He leaves his star to travel and meets different kinds of people from other planets such as the King, the drunk, the businessman and so on. During the travel, the young prince discovers that people are all looking for happiness with hardship but they seldom have the ability to achieve it because of their so-called “business”. In the real life, we are often busy with our study and work just like a walking dead body. We grew up and threw away a lot of memories, but thanks to this book we can look back what we have forgotten.
Though it is a children’s book, it’s also written for teenagers and adults. People of all ages can read this book and have their own understanding of it. The story’s true meaning is between the lines said by the fox: “One sees clearly only with the heart. What is important is invisible to the eyes.” Other key messages are also explained by the fox, such as: “You become responsible forever for what you have tamed (驯服).” The fox’s messages are unquestionably the book’s most famous ideas because they deal with human relationships.

It opens with a reminder: All grown-ups were once children, but few of them remember it. The pilot in this story lost that part of himself. After a stay in the desert with the little prince, he found his inner child again. It is a simple story with life lessons. Here are some.

The fox showed him that taming someone takes time. The prince understood the nature of relationships: the time he has wasted on his rose makes her so important.
The fox, as his parting gift, shared his secret with the prince: “One can see rightly with the heart.” “What is on surface is not what matters.”
When the pilot showed his picture about the snake eating the elephant, adults only saw it as a hat. Adults couldn’t see what was inside the snake.
So “What is essential (very important and necessary) is invisible to eyes.” This truth set the little prince free. He decided to join his rose back on his planet.

And, as I walked on, I found the well, at daybreak.
“Men,” said the little prince, “set out on their way in express trains”, but they do not know what they are looking for. Then they rush about, and get excited, and turn round and round ...
And he added, “It is not worth the trouble ...”
The well that we had come to was not like the wells of the Sahara. The wells of the Sahara are just holes dug in the sand. This one was like a well in a village. But there was no village here, and I thought I must be dreaming ...
“It is strange,” I said to the little prince. “It seems that everything is ready for use. Look at the pulley, the bucket, the rope ...” He laughed, touched the rope, and set the pulley to work.
“Do you hear ” said the little prince. “We have wakened the well, and it is singing ...”
I did not want him to tire himself with the rope.
“Leave it to me,” I said, “It is too heavy for you.”
I hoisted the bucket slowly to the edge of the well and set it there. I was tired but happy over my achievement. The song of the pulley was still in my ears, and I could see the sunlight shimmer in the still trembling water.
“I am thirsty for this water,” said the little prince. “Give me some of it to drink ...”
And I understood what he had been looking for.
I raised the bucket to his lips. He drank, his eyes closed. It was as sweet as some special festival treat. This water was indeed a different thing from ordinary nourishment.
Its sweetness was born of the walk under the stars, the song of the pulley, the effort of my arms. It was good for the heart, like a present. When I was a little boy, the lights of the Christmas tree, the music of the Midnight Mass, the tenderness of smiling faces, used to make the gifts I received look brilliant.
“The men where you live,” said the little prince, “raise five thousand roses in the same garden, and they do not find in it what they are looking for.”
“They do not find it,” I replied. “And yet what they are looking for could be found in one single rose, or in a little water.”
“Yes, that is true,” I said.
And the little prince added, “But the eyes are blind. One must look with the heart ...

The pilot, Antoine De Saint-Exupéry who wrote The Little Prince, died long ago, but the fictional pilot, who told the story, is as alive today as he was many years ago, along with his Prince, the fox, the rose and the snake.
It opens with a reminder: All grown-ups were once children, but few of them remember it. The pilot in this story lost that part of himself. After a stay in the desert with the little prince, he found his inner child again. It is a simple story with life lessons. Here are some.
“One only understands the things that one tames.” Seeing thousands of roses that look like his rose made the prince feel as if he was tricked by his flower.

(2023·江苏扬州·一模)阅读并回答下面5个问题,每题答案不超过10个词。
