Subject: My food campaign(运动)
Hi, friends. I have decided to start a food campaign to feed people who have less food to eat than we do. I'm going to start by asking restaurants for food. I will need your help. If I give each of you a list (名单) of restaurants, will you go talk to them I want you to ask them to give us edible(可食用的) food they plan to throw away(扔掉). If we each visit two restaurants a week, we will have enough food to feed people in our neighborhood.
We are going to need a kitchen to feed people, too. If you have any ideas,I want to hear them. Also, if you know of anyone who can help, please have them call or e- mail me. This isn't going to be easy, but as long as we work together, I think nothing will stop us.
Thanks! Talk to you at the city park tomorrow afternoon after school!

Riding a bicycle has become very popular these days.
My school is far from my house, so I went there by bus for years. I sometimes got there late. This March I asked my father to get me a bicycle so that(以便) I might get to school on time. And he bought me one some days later.
Then the problem was how to ride the bicycle. One of my friends lives next door. He helped me learn how to ride. He took me to a school playground and demonstrated how to ride to me. When it was my turn to ride, he ran with me. He did that to make sure(确保) he would be there when I was falling off.I learned things very quickly and could ride a bicycle without anyone’s help after a few days.
What fun it is to ride a bicycle! I now go to school on my bicycle. I think a bicycle is the cheapest and quickest means of transport (交通工具) for a student. I make use of my bicycle if a football game is waiting for me in the park. I visit the homes of my friends who live too far away by bicycle. I can also be very helpful to my mother and get vegetables and fruit for the house.

In China, on a child's birthday, family members put many things on the floor around the child. According to Chinese tradition, the first thing that the child picks up tells you what profession(职业) the child will choose later in life.
For Japanese children, the third, fifth and seventh birthdays are especially important. On these days, there is a special celebration Shichi- Go- San( seven, five, three in Japanese) when children go to the temple wearing a new kimono(和服). The priest(僧侣) gives them special sweets, and the parents usually organize a party for their friends in their home.
In Argentina, Mexico and several other Latin American countries, girls have a special birthday celebration when they reach the age of fifteen. After the special ceremony(仪式), the girls dance a waltz with their father and other boys.
Eighteen is the traditional“ coming of age”— the age when you have the right to vote(选举), join the army in many countries and drink alcohol or buy a house in Britain.
