What to Expect of Your First Year of High School
Beginning your first year of senior high school (动词-ing短语作主语) is
an exciting big step. Like any big step, of course, it can also make you feel
worried sometimes. High school brings new classes, new teachers and classmates,
new rules and routines, and new expectations . It's normal to feel a little
nervous about going through . .all these changes.(It是形式主语,真正的主语是动
词不定式短语tofeel...changes)。Luckily, you're not the only person to go through
these changes(因person前有the only修饰,故此处用动词不定式短语作后置定语,
修饰person。) , and plenty of others have made the transition(转变) before
you too.
One of the ways in which high school is different from middle school
(in which引导的定语从句,修饰ways。)is the higher expectations. You'll find
that you're expected to keep closer track of your own schedule with fewer

time, your classes are likely to become more challenging , and you may take
part in new school activities as well.
Some students find it's hard to keep up with everything at first, and this is
totally normal. One way to prepare in advance . .for these higher expectations

a good schedule before you start high school.
Another important skill for meeting these higher expectations is building a
strong support relationship. No matter how strong a student you are(Nomatterhow

healthy relationships with your friends and teachers is a great way to make sure

"Your playful days are over," my brother said to me when he knew I was
going to be a senior high school student. Then he continued telling me that senior
high school life was boring because I had to do a large amount of homework
