Three months ago, I had some unhealthy habits. For example, I often
skipped breakfast and liked eating junk food. Besides, I took little physical
exercise. As a result, I became overweight and often fell ill.
Luckily, I became aware of the bad effects caused by them. To keep fit, I
made up my mind to break these bad habits. Firstly, I began to cut out junk
food and have a balanced diet. Also, I took exercise actively every day to
build up my body.
With time passing by, I gradually lost weight and became stronger. By
eating properly and doing exercise regularly, I now lead a healthy and
wonderful life.

As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I'm
often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there
is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a
complete beginner. So I've put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
● Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies.
These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard(n. [C] 基础,
出发点) for more complex works in the future.
. .36. . You'll want to look back on your journey to see how far you've come.
● Paint often and paint from life. There's no better way to improve than to
put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lives, portraits , or
landscapes , paint from life as much as possible. . .37. .
● Continually challenge yourself to try something new. . .38. . Artistic growth
can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club; we've all been there. I love taking on
challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month
and post the works online.
●. .39. .Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to
growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn , have met some of the
kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of
artistic ability.
The journey you're on won't follow a straight path. . .40. . Push through, give it
time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A.Get out of your comfort zone .
B.Make career plans and set goals.
C.Don't throw away your beginner art.
D.Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
E.You'll hit roadblocks, and you'll feel discouraged at times.
F.Evaluate your performance and, if needed, redefine your role.
G.You'll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition .

36.___
C
You'll want to look back on your journey to see how far you've
back on"的物件有关,而C项中的"your beginner art"最贴合语境,它可以帮助你看到
Whether you paint still lives, portraits, or
landscapes, paint from life as much as possible"讲到了无论你是画静物画、肖像画
38.___
A
Continually challenge yourself to try something new"可
Get
out of your comfort zone"就是"challenge yourself"的一种方式。
根据空后的"feedback(反馈)
my work"与D项中的"Share your work"属于同义复现。
40.___
E
The journey you're on won't follow a straight path"
Push through, give it time and put in
39 If you've been betrayed, you are the victim of your
circumstance. But there's a difference between being a victim and living with a
"victim mentality".( )
C
A.Learn to really trust yourself.
B.It is putting confidence in someone.
C.Stop regarding yourself as the victim.
D.Remember that you can expect the best in return.
E.They've been too badly hurt and they can't bear to let it happen again.
F.This knowledge carries over in their attitude toward their future relationships.
G.Seeing the positive side of things doesn't mean you're ignoring what happened.
38 Having confidence in yourself will help you make better
choices because you can see what the best outcome would be for your well-
being.( )
A
A.Learn to really trust yourself.
B.It is putting confidence in someone.
C.Stop regarding yourself as the victim.
A项中的trust
的Start属于同义复现;第39题,D项中的"Share your work"对应后文中的"post my

The Voice of Rigo
Rigo had a loud voice. People were always telling Rigo to be quiet. His
mother would tell him to use his quiet voice inside the house because the baby
was asleep. His father would ask him to speak quietly in the car so that he could
concentrate on his driving. His teacher would tell him to talk quietly so he would
not bother(打扰) others who were studying.
Not only did he have a loud voice, but Rigo liked to talk a lot. Whenever he
had time, he would talk with his classmates, sharing everything he considered fun.
He liked to yell and shout. Sometimes he just yelled "Hey!" for no reason. He
liked the sound of his very loud voice for he thought it had more penetrating
(有穿透力的) power than that of an actor. But not everyone felt the same way.
When Rigo shouted goodbye as he left for school, his mother shook her head,
saying "Rigo! Be quiet!" When his father drove him to school, Rigo said, "Hey!
There's Chris!" He pointed at his friend, who was walking to school. His father
shook his head, saying "Rigo, use a quiet voice in the car." At school, his teacher
talked to him three times about using his quiet voice. His classmates shook their
heads, throwing him an angry look when he talked aloud.
Later, Rigo had to sit by himself for a while. His teacher wanted him to
practice being quiet. Rigo had to sit quietly for five minutes. It felt like five hours
or five days. When the five minutes was up, Rigo went to his desk and sat quietly.
It was not easy.
After school, Rigo was waiting for his father at the roadside when he saw
Chris again."Hey!" he yelled."Chris! Hey!" The headmaster was just walking by.
Rigo was sure he was going to get in trouble for his loud voice. He looked
quickly down at the ground, hoping the headmaster would keep walking.

cheerfully. "Dad, the headmaster said I was going to become an extraordinary
actor!" he yelled proudly. The next second, he seemed to remember what the
headmaster had told him, and lowered his voice, "Yes, I know when to speak
in a loud voice." His father was surprised at his change. Rigo then told him
what happened just now and promised he would practice speaking quietly.
Pleased, his father smiled, "Yes, you're to become an extraordinary actor, for
yourself, and for the headmaster."
