1. that引导的宾语从句
*主句的谓语动词是know, believe, think, hope, tell, say, understand, report, wish, promise, see, expect, explain, feel, hear, imagine, prefer, warn等时,常接 that 引导的宾语从句。
3) Bill thinks that the book is interesting.
1) I’m afraid (that) he can’t come.
恐怕他不能来了。
2) I’m so pleased that you will come tomorrow.
我很高兴明天你来。
*宾语从句也可用于一些描写情感的形容词之后,如:afraid, glad, happy, pleased, sad, sure, sorry等等。
* think, believe, suppose, guess等动词作主句的谓语,且主句的主语是第一人称 I 或we时,宾语从句的否定词not习惯上要转移到主句中,即“否定转移”。
我相信他不会做如此愚蠢的事。
I believe he will not do such a silly thing.
I don’t believe that he will do such a silly thing.
我认为他不会说英语。
I don’t think he can speak English.
I think he can’t speak English.
有些宾语从句不能省略that:
谓语动词后跟有两个或更多个并列的宾语从句,第二个及以后的that都不可以省略。
He said (that) the book was very interesting
and that(不省略) all the children liked to read it.
I think it necessary that he should stay here.
2) 主语中有it作形式宾语,that不可省。
他说这本书非常有趣,所有的孩子都喜欢看。
我们认为他有必要留在这里。

if/whether常放在 ask, see, say, know, wonder, find out等动词/词组之后,表达不确定概念,意为“是否”,从句部分的语义相当于一个一般疑问句;whether/if 不可省略,两者常可换用,口语多用if。
2. whether/if 引导的宾语从句

if或whether引导宾语从句时,作“是否”讲,一般情况下,两者常可换用。
只能用 的情况 Please tell us whether to go or stay here.
I don’t know whether or not I can come.
We worried about whether he was in good health.
Whether it is true or not, I can’t tell.

首表示强调时
1) She wonders, “Can I keep that book for one more week ” →
She wonders if/whether she can keep that book for one more week.
她想知道那本书她能不能再借一个星期。
2)“Can you help me ” She asks. →
She asks if/whether I can help her.
她问我能不能帮助她。
在转述时,宾语从句中的人称代词要符合逻辑,有时需进行合理变化。
1) He is an honest boy. The teacher said. (合成一句)
2) Does he work hard I wonder. (合成一句)
3.宾语从句的语序
不论什么情况下,宾语从句都要用陈述语序,即“主语+谓语+其他”。
I wonder if/whether he works hard.
The teacher said (that)he was an honest boy.
1) He tells me that he’s very busy.
2) He tells me that he was born in 1985.
3) It says that the experiment has been done successfully.
4) I don't know whether we'll go there tomorrow.
4.宾语从句的时态
一般现在时

主句:一般现在时
当主句是现在时态时,从句可以根据实际情况采用任何时态。
1. It seemed that they were speaking to me in person.
2. We thought somebody was moving about.
3. Lingling's uncle said it was an animal.

如果主句用过去时态,从句要用过去时态的某种形式。
1) Our teacher told us that light travels faster than sound.我们老师告诉我们,光比声音传播得快。
2) He said that time is life.
他说时间就是生命。
如果从句表达的是客观事实、真理、自然现象、名言、警句、格言、谚语等等,尽管主句用过去时态,从句也要用一般现在时。
