1.To read a passage and understand the main idea of the passage.
2.To master the stylistic features and basic elements of a play through reading.
3.To know how to solve the family conflicts and establish the correct family values.
4.To review the tenses by analyzing the sentences in the passage.

1.Read a play and understand the main idea and get the details about the plot of the play.
2.Review the tenses and do activities to further understand the meaning of the tenses and better use the tenses in texts.
教学难点:
1.How to understand the details about the plot in a play.
2.How to analyze the tenses of sentences through reading.
3.How to use the tenses in reading correctly.
教学过程
Lead in:
Show a photo to ask students what things they ask their parents for some advice and have students tick the things.
Pre-reading:
Have students look at the picture of the passage and answer questions to get the information about the title and the genre of the passage.
While-reading:
1.Have students listen to and read the whole passage quickly to predict the possible relationship among the persons in the picture and analyze the conflict between the father and son.
2.Have students think about the setting and characters of the play and fill in the blanks.
3.Have students read each part of the play and get more details about the plot in each part through answering questions and filling in blanks. Meanwhile, have students think about the tenses of some sentences in the passage and give some other sentences in the passage to further explain the meaning of the tenses.
4.Have students do an activity: Add the tags to the director’s notes and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers.
5.Have students read the title again and think about the meaning of it to choose another suitable title for the play and give your reasons.
Post-reading:
Have students watch a video to think about how to solve the conflicts with parents.
Using Language:
Have students do some activities to review the tenses.
1.Look at the sentences and decide which tense each is in. Then, match the tenses to what they describe.
2.Complete the dialogue with the correct form of the words and expressions in brackets.
Summary:
Summarize the things what the students have learned in this class.
