choice n. 意为“选择”。choice为可数名词，make a choice意为
“做出选择”。

strict adj. 意为“严厉的；严格的”。常用结构为：be strict with sb., 意为“对某人严格要求”。be strict in sth. 意为“对某事要求严格”。

3. She encourages us to work hard, but she never punishes us. 她鼓励我们努力学习，但从不惩罚我们。
(1) encourage 作及物动词，意为“鼓励；激励”。encourage sb. to do sth意为“鼓励某人做某事”。
(2) punish作及物动词，意为“惩罚”。punish sb. 意为“惩罚某人”。
encourage 和punish都可以在词尾加后缀 ment变成名词，encouragement (鼓励)和punishment (惩罚)。
e.g. Her words were a great encouragement to them.
她的话对他们是极大的鼓舞。
He was asked to clean the house as a punishment.
他被要求打扫房子来作为惩罚。
