Filamentary silver hovering art is divided into the northern style and the southern style. The style in Beijing stands for the northern one, while the style in Chengdu stands for the southern one. The southern style, which still keeps the natural color of silver, becomes a very popular style among collectors after the 20th century.
Dao An is the only inheritor(传承人) who has learned the full set of filamentary silver
hovering art. For more than 40 years, she has made efforts to spread Chinese culture at home
and abroad.
Born in 1962, Dao An became interested in drawing from childhood. Since junior high
school, she had taken school subjects during the day and studied painting at a night school. In
1980, she worked for a filamentary silver hovering art company. Because of her excellent painting
ability, she began to create silver filament artworks on her own. However, she was not satisfied with them. In order to make better silver filament artworks, Dao An had been studying
