Life is full of beautiful moments. All you have to do is to open your eyes and your heart to see and enjoy them.
The other day, a local primary school was just over, and I found myself behind a school bus as I was driving home. The bus stopped by a house sitting on the top of a hill. A little girl, no more than 7 years old, got off the bus and started running quickly towards the house. The smile on her face was quite sweet. I looked up at the hill to see where she was going. Her dad was waiting for her. As she got closer, her dad smiled and greeted her with a big hug.
My eyes watered a bit as I watched this scene. I remembered all the times when my own children ran into my arms with smiling faces. Every hug from them was a treasure of joy.
Suddenly, my memory was stopped when I heard the car’s horn(喇叭)behind me. I saw the school bus quickly pulling away, and started to follow it again. However, this time I did so with a fuller heart than ever before. I took that beautiful moment and stored it safely in my mind, where I knew it would remain forever.
One day, we all will leave this school of learning and love, and finally go home again. So enjoy your day here at school. Love and learn. But know that one day you will be going home where the hugs are eternal(永久的)and the love never ends.

I was once in a class in which none of the students would ever graduate. Each student in our class seemed to be a troublemaker. None of our teachers had stayed for longer than a week until Mrs Cosby came.
One morning, the door of the classroom opened and a new teacher walked in. It was Mrs Cosby. She looked very kind. And we surely gave her a hard time and thought she wouldn’t stay for more than a week. But no matter what we did, she never got stroppy with us. And slowly we got worried about how to drive her away.
Then came the last day of the first month. She went into the classroom with some pieces of paper in her hands. We feared that the worst—a test would happen. However, it wasn’t a test, but something surprising us. Mrs Cosby gave each of us a piece of paper. On each piece of paper she had written what the student had been good at during the last month. We were surprised. No one had ever encouraged us before she came. We had been always told we were the silliest in the world. But she told us we were intelligent in some way.
From that day we started to believe in ourselves. From that day we stopped making her life hard and began to study really hard. Other teachers couldn’t understand what happened to us. But we knew the reason—each month we got a piece of paper telling us what we were good at from Mrs Cosby.
And then came the day of our graduation. That day Mrs Cosby told us that she was proud of us. She said she knew we were good students and that we could succeed. What we needed was to believe in ourselves.

D. Most of the students in the class were afraid of trouble before Mrs Cosby came.

A man sees a butterfly(蝴蝶). The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis(蛹). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn’t struggle(挣扎; 奋斗)to leave the chrysalis, it can’t fly!The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges of life bring out the best in young people.
When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. The most successful people are those who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many big supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives.
Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping, volunteer work and so on. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them.

The overall environment of our community is very good. But there are still some small problems. For example, some places are littered, and some owners’ cars are parked at random. Some flowers and plants are damaged. The main reason for this situation is that some owners do not care about the environment of the community. The community is also our small home. I hope everyone can take care of it. I suggest that we all put garbage in designated places. At the same time, our owners’ cars should be parked in the designated parking space. Finally, we should love our flowers and trees. If everyone can take care of it, we will have a more beautiful community environment.期末满分冲刺卷(Units 1~10)
