More than 6,500 people were killed.
Deadly and destructive
The most powerful earthquake in the past 40 years caused a tsunami that crashed into coastlines across Asia yesterday, killing more than 6,500 people in Indonesia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and at least four other countries. Fishermen, tourists, hotels, homes, and cars were swept away by huge waves caused by the strong carthquake that reached a magnitude of 9.0. The undersea quake struck around 7:00 a.m, Sunday off the west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island. In that area alone, at least 1,870 people were killed.

An Unforgettable Mountain-Climbing Activity

An Unforgettable Mountain-Climbing Activity
With the purpose of encouraging students to take outdoor exercise, our school organized a mountain-climbing activity last Sunday. More than one thousand students and thirty teachers of Senior Three participated in it.
At 7:00 a.m., we gathered at the foot of Meihua mountain and then set out for the top. Along the way we were chatting, singing, laughing and enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful
scenery.When some fell behind, others would offer help. About two hours later, we all reached the top, feeling tired but happy.
The activity turned out to be a great succeess. Not only did the activity help us build up our strength, but it also strengthened our perseverance.
