Ⅵ、阅读理解
Passage One
(讲解篇)
Some people have a very poor sense of direction. Unluckily, I am one of them. I have visited a place many times but I may still get lost there the next time.
When I was young, I never dared ask strangers the way. And so I used to walk round in circles and hope that by chance I was going the right way.
Now I am no longer too shy to ask people for directions, but I often receive helpless or even wrong information. So I try to avoid giving people wrong directions. If anyone ever asks me, I always say, "Sorry, I am a stranger here."
Once on my way to work I was stopped by a man. He asked me if I could tell him the way to the Friendship Building. I gave him my usual reply. But just as I walked on only a few steps, I realized that he had asked the way to my office building. However, I had no time to turn back and look for him. I was rushing to meet with someone at my office and I didn't want to keep him waiting.

Passage Two
During the Jin dynasty, a child named Che Yin was smart and loved to read. He grew up in a poor family and couldn't afford lamp oil to study at night. One night, he saw fireflies outside his house and came up with an idea. He caught some fireflies in a cloth bag and hung the bag up as a lamp. He spent all of his summer nights reading like this.
Another child named Sun Kang living during the same period also loved reading. One winter night, Sun used up all of his lamp oil and couldn't study at night. Suddenly, he saw the thick snow reflecting the moonlight outside his house.
He thought, “Oh, I can use the reflected light to read!” He took out his books and read,
even though it was too cold. Both of the kids later became successful government of ficials.
People were touched by their hard-working spirit and their stories were the inspiration for the
Chinese idiom “nangying yingxue” which means “to read by the light of bagged fireflies or the
reflected light of snow”
▲ Some had to copy others' books by hand because they couldn't afford books. Others even had to travel over mountains and rivers to find a good teacher. However, these hard conditions did not stop young minds from learning knowledge. Many of them went out of their way to study in order to change their lives.
Other similar idioms are “xuanliang cigu” and “zaobi touguang”. Although they may
sound a little exaggerated, they are just like the weak light of fireflies, lighting up the road to
knowledge and success.

Passage Three
(2022.广东深圳中学期末)①Hugging is a great way to express love and care. Even the grumpiest(性情暴躁的)among us have to agree that sometimes nothing makes us feel warmer and more cared for than a good hug
②But how do we hug For how long Are certain hugs better than others Can you guess where we're going with this Yes! Scientists did a study on hugs. They organized a group of volunteers, asked them to perform different kinds of hugs and got their feedback on what they liked.
③There are two main ways that we hug each other-neck-waist hug and criss-cross. The neck-waist hug is when one person wraps (用......缠绕) one's arms around the other’s mid-section, while the other wraps around the first person's neck and shoulders. the criss-cross hug is when each person puts one arm under the other's armpit(腋窝), and the other one over their shoulder.
④According to this study, we prefer the second way, even if there is a height difference. That's pretty important because a criss-cross hug is a little harder if one person is taller. As for why we do that, one guess is that the criss-cross doesn’t put one person above the other. And feeling equal is a pretty important part of a hug.
⑤Then there's the other important thing. How long does a hug last Actually the average hug
lasts three seconds. But is that perfect Researchers set up three kinds--one-second, five-second and ten-second hugs. What came out on top as being the most satisfying If you guess five, you're right. And the least satisfying The one-second hugs did. But surprisingly, the ten-second hugs scored as highly as the five second hug did. This is strange because ten seconds is a pretty long time for a hug. The fact that people enjoyed them suggests that we really honestly do love human contact. It is a
comforting thing.
( )10. What can we learn from Paragraph 1
A. Hugging is the most convenient way to show care and love.
B. Nothing can make a grumpy person warmer or more cared.
C. A hug may make a grumpy person lose temper.
D. A hug may help a grumpy person calm down.
( )11. Which of the following are mentioned in the study
①What is studied ②How it was carried out
③Who took part in it ④When it was carried out
A.①② B.①②③ C.②③④ D. ①②③④
( )12. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. Neck-waist and criss-cross are the only two ways that people hug each other.
B. The neck-waist hug puts two arms under the other's armpit.
C. Even if there is a height difference, people still prefer a neck-waist hug.
D. A criss-cross hug makes people feel equal.
( )13. According to the study, which of the following hugs is the most satisfying
A. One-second hug. B. Three-second hug. C. Four-second hug. D. Ten-second hug.
( )14. Which of the following is the correct structure of the passage
(①=Para.1②= Para.2 ③= Para.3 ④= Para.4⑤=Para.5)
A.①;②;③;④⑤ B.①;②;③④;⑤
C.①②;③;④⑤ D.①②③;④;⑤
Ⅶ、任务型阅读
Passage One (技巧篇)
(重庆南开中学期中) If you ask people from different countries “ Could you tell me the way to the post office ”, you will get different answers.
In Japan, people use landmarks(路标) instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, “Go straight down to the corner. Turn left at the big hotel and go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop."
In Kansas, America, there are no towns or buildings within (在之内) miles. So instead of
landmarks, people will tell you directions and distance(距离). For example, people will say, “Go
north two miles. Turn east, and then go another mile."
People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions. They will often say, “Follow me.” Then he or she will take you through the streets of the city to the post office.
Sometimes if a person, like a New Yorker, doesn't know the answer to your question, he or she
might say, “Sorry, I have no idea.” But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers like “I don’t know.”
People there think “I don’t know” is not polite. They usually give an answer, but often a wrong one. A visitor can often get lost in Yucatan!
But one thing will help you everywhere. You might not understand a person's words, but maybe
you can understand his or her body language. He or she will usually point to the correct direction. Go on in that direction and you may find the post office!
1. Will the answers to the question “Could you tell me the way to the post office " be different in
different countries

Passage Two(实践篇)
(重庆江北区模拟)
When we communicate with others, we often use body language.
Body language includes things like facial expressions, eye contact and posture(姿势).It actually developed as a form of communication before humans could speak or write. We can tell
a lot about what a person is thinking or feeling just by looking at him or her.
In fact, body language is so common that you may not even realize that you are sending many messages to others every day without even using words.
For example, you might move your head from side to side to express the word “no”. You
might give a “thumbs-up” to show that you like or agree with something. Or, you might cross
the thumb with the index finger(食指) to form the shape of a heart to represent love.
But now we are spending more time online. Our“digital(数字的)body language”is becoming increasingly important as we change how we communicate. For instance, instead of using voice messages, you can video chat with your friends to show them your face.
Another way to express your emotions digitally is through emojis(表情符号).“When we are communicating via e-mails, we are only revealing(显示)the content(内容)and leaving out vocal tones(语气) and facial expressions," Dr. Moitree Banerjee, a lecturer of psychology (心理学) at the University of Chichester in England, told Digital Trends. That’s when
“emojis can help immensely in communication”

Ⅷ、短文填空
Passage one
(2024重庆西大附中期末) We all know that not all communication is through languages, but did you know that the 1 body language can mean something completely different because of culture From what you do with your eyes or hands between speakers, there are large differences in how people from different countries use their 2 to communicate. Let's take a look at some examples.
Eye contact(接触)
Prolonged(持久的) eye contact is a sign of confidence (自信) in most Western countries. 3 , in many African, Asian and Latin American countries, unbroken eye contact can be seen as impolite. In the Middle East, eye contact lasts longer only b 4 people of the same sex (性别).
Physical contact
“Rules” on physical contact are usually different d 5 on age, sex, profession(职业) and so on. But in general, people from high contact cultures such as Southern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East like to stand 6 when speaking and like to touch often. Those from low contact cultures, such as the Far East, stand farther apart and usually avoid physical contact.

Hand gestures are also different from country to country. Using the “OK” sign is not OK in Brazil, Greece, Spain or Turkey. And if you want to tell 7 he did a good job in Greece or the Middle East, you can't do as we do in China. And in most of Asia, curling(弯曲) your index finger(食指) to ask someone to come is fine for dogs, but not for people-especially in the Philippines, where you could be p 1 under the law.

Older people should believe that it is never too 7 to dream and that human mind is never too old to make dreams turn into reality. Colonel Saunders realized his dreams at the age of 67 and set up the biggest fried chicken company (KFC) in the world
To dream is a wonderful ability which can lead to wonderful results. Olympic records were broken by players who were brave 8 to dream. No one is too young or too old to dream and to make dreams come true.
