Let’s face it: Not many students love doing homework. But like it or not, homework is part of life for most kids in the Unite States. A recent survey has shown that students in different grades almost need to spend about five hours each week doing homework.
Some school officials (校方) argue that homework is important because it helps students remember what they learn in class. Others point out that it helps kids develop good study habits. Also, some parents say homework helps them discover whether or not their kids are falling behind.
But many schools are rethinking homework. Some have cut down the everyday homework, and others no longer allow weekend homework. What’s more, some have eliminated (取消) homework totally. Why Many parents and teachers worry that too much homework makes kids stressed. Besides, some studies have shown that homework doesn’t actually help students do better in tests.
Here’s what two of our student readers think.
Homework is a valuable tool because without it, we might forget what we learned at school, and this could cause our grades to drop. Also, it helps teachers know the areas where students need help. Mike It’s good that you want to improve your schoolwork. Every student should have this goal. You should do everything you can to raise your grades.
However, not every student studies the same way. Some people do prefer to have a one-on-one tutor. Others prefer to learn in groups. Some simply like to study on their own. The key is to find the way that works best for you.
I used to be pretty bad at math. I envied my classmates who went to tutoring and could easily solve problems. I joined them and had tutoring three times a week. My tutor gave me homework, just like our teachers in school. It made me feel really tired.
So after about two months, I decided to give up. I listened more carefully in class and started to work out problem on my own. By doing this many times, I learned that many problem had the same rules behind them. And now, personally, I’d rather just study on my own.
You should find the way that works best for you. Don’t just do what others do. Find your weakness and try to deal with it. Whether you are tutored or self-taught.

Science shows that there is a right way to build habits that last. Here are some tips to make exercise one of them.
Start small
A goal of exercising for 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week may sound good. But how likely are you to follow through The bigger your goal is, the more likely you are to fail and give up. It’s better to start with easy exercise goals you know you can achieve because you’ll build self-confidence when you meet them. Then you can move on to bigger goals.
Use triggers
Triggers are simply reminders — activities, places, or objects — that kick of an automatic (自动的) reaction. They help you start exercising without thinking or making decisions. For example, the alarm clock goes off and you’re out of the door for your walk. You spot your sports shoes right by the bed and you’re up and running. Find ways to build triggers into your day to make exercise a no-brainer.
Reward (奖励) yourself
People who often exercise tend to do so because of the rewards it brings to their lives, such as more energy, better sleep and a greater sense of happiness. However, these can be long-term rewards. When you’re starting an exercise program, it’s important to give yourself immediate rewards if you successfully complete a workout. Choose something you look forward to, but don’t allow yourself to do it until after exercise. It can be something as simple as having a hot bath or a favorite cup of coffee.
Choose exercise that makes you feel happy and confident
If your workout is unpleasant or makes you feel bad or unhappy, you’re unlikely to stick with it. Don’t choose exercise like running or lifting weights at the gym just because you think that’s what you should do. Instead, pick activities that fit your lifestyle, abilities and taste.
53.Why is it better to start with easy exercise goals
