Do you know the girl to whom our teacher is talking =Do you know the girl
(that/who/whom) our teacher is talking to
The school in which my friend once studied is very famous.=The school
(that/which) my friend once studied in is very famous.

Keeping the house clean is good for
health.→Keeping the house clean benefits
health.
She brought home several Chinese and
English novels, a few copies of Reader's
Digest. .and. .Newsweek, and some
textbooks.→She brought home some books.
There are many people who are
shy.→Shyness is common.

Pedestrian deaths have been increasing
because of distracted walking in the past few
year…→With distracted walking causing
increasing pedestrian deaths in the past few
years…
sentences)。

Perhaps you've heard the old saying "curiosity
killed the cat." It's a saying that's often used to warn people—especially children—
not to ask too many questions. Yet it's widely agreed that curiosity actually makes
learning more effective. In fact, research has shown that curiosity is just as
important as intelligence in determining how well students do in school.
Curiosity can also lead us to make unexpected discoveries, bring excitement
into our lives, and open up new possibilities. In science, curiosity-driven research
can have unexpected important benefits. For example, it was said that Michael
Faraday was playing around with a coil(线圈) and a magnet(磁铁) when he
suddenly found he could produce an electrical current. At first, it wasn't clear what
use this would have, but it actually made electricity available in technology, and so
changed the world.
However, curiosity is currently under the biggest threat coming from technology.
On one level, this is because technology has become so advanced that many of us
are unable to think too deeply about how exactly things work any more. While it
may be possible for a curious teenager to take a toaster apart and get some sense
of how it works, how much do you understand what happens when you type a
website address into a browser(浏览器)
In addition to this, there's the fact that we all now connect so deeply with
technology, particularly with our phones. The more we stare at our screens, the less
we talk to other people directly. All too often we accept the images of people that
social media provides. Then we feel we know enough about a person, and there's
no need to engage further with them.
That means we end up inside our own little bubbles, no longer coming up
with new ideas. Perhaps the real key to developing curiosity in the 21st century,
then, is to rely less on the tech tools of our age.

With limited space for parks and gardens, architects(建筑师) and city
planners often find it challenging to include greenery in the neighborhoods of cities.
One creative solution is to grow plants on unused areas like walls and rooftops. It's
a popular idea, and now rooftop gardens and green walls have been sprouting up
(涌现出) in cities around the world.
There are many benefits of having green space in the urban landscape. Adding
gardens to rooftops or walls can create a pleasant environment—what was once a
gray cement(水泥) wall can become a colorful, blooming garden. The
CaixaForum art gallery in Madrid, Spain, is a famous example—one of its walls is
covered with different kinds of plants. In other cities, green walls are being used to
cover up construction sites and empty buildings and to decorate the halls of office
buildings.
Using plants to cover walls and rooftops can also keep cities cooler in the
summer. Buildings and roads absorb(吸收) the sun's heat and hold it, causing a
building or neighborhood to stay warmer longer. Plants, on the other hand, provide
a large amount of shade. There is evidence that growing a rooftop or wall garden
can lower a building's energy costs.
In New York City, public schools plant rooftop gardens that can reduce heating
and cooling costs. In addition to saving the school money, teachers and parents
love the gardens because of their educational value—it's a fun and healthy way for
kids to explore the world around them. "For the children, it's exciting when you
grow something edible(可以食用的)," the headmaster of a New York public
school said.
Rooftop gardens and green walls may require a bit more effort to grow and
maintain. However, hard work always brings rewards, and with green space, the
rewards are plentiful.
_________________________________________________________________________
____
Due to the limited space in cities, people start growing rooftop gardens
and green walls.(要点1)One benefit of adding green to rooftops and walls is
to offer enjoyable surroundings.(要点2)Besides, shade can be created to make
cities stay cooler longer, thus reducing the costs of energy.(要点3)What's
more, green gardens in the school help children explore the world around
them.(要点4)Though rooftop gardens and green walls are hard to grow and
maintain, they ensure great rewards.(要点5)

It was a day just like any other day. I woke up early in the morning and
went to run up the Mount Grace with my dog, Bubbles. As I ran up the mountain,
with my dog following close behind, I felt energetic and refreshed. Running in a
natural environment never failed to make me feel alive. When I reached the top, I
drank some water and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. This scene always took my
breath away, no matter how many times I had seen it.
Having rested enough, Bubbles and I made our way back down the mountain.
As we were running downhill, I saw an unfamiliar path and decided to explore the
area. The path was full of rocks. It was not easy to walk.
Suddenly, I slipped(滑倒) on a muddy patch, rolling down five meters
before I managed to catch hold of an exposed root of a huge tree. I was safe then.
However, I was seriously injured. My knees were badly hurt. My right foot was
also dislocated(使脱臼). I knew for sure I would be unable to make my way up
or down the mountain without help. I called out to Bubbles and he barked(吠叫)
loudly from above. It seemed like he understood that I needed help. He looked
down at me pitifully before disappearing from sight.
As night fell, fear set in and scary thoughts went through my mind. There
were many things that I had got to do. I couldn't die! This would not have
happened if I had stuck to my usual path.
I was losing hope when I heard barks. It was Bubbles. I rubbed my eyes as I
struggled to keep awake. But there was silence. Who could it be Was I
hallucinating(产生幻觉) Then I heard some voices and more barks. Yes. Help
was near, I knew. I could count on my dog to get help.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;

Soon,I heard my parents calling my name. So I began calling back. A
moment later, I saw the light of a flashlight. Following my voice and with
Bubbles leading the way, my parents finally found me. They looked nervous
and worried. After learning I was badly hurt, my parents quickly climbed
down to me. They examined my cuts and my foot and decided that I had
better not walk. Then, my father carried me on his back, down the mountain
and to the nearest clinic, where a doctor was waiting for us.
Later,my parents told me what Bubbles had done to get help. He quickly
ran home and barked loudly at my parents. They were confused in the
beginning, but then they realized I hadn't come back home with Bubbles as
usual and that I must have been in trouble. At that moment, Bubbles ran out
and my parents followed him closely. Bubbles remembered the way and led my
parents to the spot. How lucky I was to have such a smart dog! Thousands of
words couldn't express my gratitude.
