一、阅读理解
1. A few weeks ago, I sat with a California farmer named Dave Ribeiro. I asked him what he wished to know about farmers. He smiled and said, "We walk among you. We look like you and talk like you. We have advanced degrees and hobbies, just like you."
Take Dave for example: He's a young man with a degree in music. And if you walk past him in the street, you'll never think, "There goes a farmer."
Is there someone who you picture like Dave when you think of a farmer Probably not. I think that most people would picture a man in his overalls(工装服). I can tell you that it does not represent Dave or any of other farmers I have gotten to know.
Not only do we have to throw out our previous impression of farmers, but farming as a whole doesn't look much like what it used to be either. We recently sent a team out to see what modem fanning looks like, and they found farmers to be completely different from our usual ideas about them and also came across them in some unexpected places.
In a parking lot in a neighborhood of Brooklyn, they met a new crop of young farmers who were trying to bring fresh greens closer to eaters in the city by growing them in high-tech indoor vertical (垂直的) farms. In a Florida field under the fight path of an airport, they discovered farmers with university degrees growing plants that might someday fuel our cars. And in a modem farm in California, they observed how farmers were using technology to take the best possible care of their animals.
These farmers all spend their days in very different ways—none of them looks like the previous farmer we have in our mind—but they're all working in new ways to feed our planet. Not only do we need to change our idea of what farming looks like, but we also need to change our view of where solutions can come from. Feeding all of us is going to take all of us working together.
1.How does Dave describe today's farmers
A.They often walk in the street. B.They are leading a very busy life.
C.They are similar to ordinary people. D.They have little time to make friends.
2.How does the author think most people see farmers
A.They usually wear overalls. B.They have interesting hobbies.
C.They are skilled at growing crops. D.They know modern farming practices.
3.What is the purpose of the team
A.To deepen connections among farmers.
B.To study different technologies in farming.
C.To find the new developments of modem farming.
D.To encourage farmers to use the new farming method.
4.What do the farmers mentioned in Paragraph 5 have in common
A.They all work in the city. B.They all use high technology.
C.They all do hard physical work. D.They all work with universities.
2. Chinese researchers have developed a robot designed to help doctors treat the new coronavirus (新冠病毒) and other highly contagious diseases.
The robot can perform some of the same medical examination tasks as doctors. For example, the device can perform ultrasounds, collect fluid samples from a person's mouth and listen to sounds made by a patient's organs. Cameras record the robot's activities, which are controlled remotely so doctors can avoid coming in close contact with infected patients. Doctors and other medical workers can operate the machine from a nearby room, or from much farther away.
Zhengcontagious...hiscontagious...heng Gangtie, an engineer and professor at China's Tsinghua University in Beijing. "Doctors are all very brave,"Zhengcontagious...his virus is just too contagious... We can use robots to perform the most dangerous tasks." Zheng said a friend of his, the head of Beijing s Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, told him that one of the biggest problems in dealing with COVID-19 was that health care workers treating patients were getting infected themselves. Zheng said he wanted to do something to help this situation. So the engineer gathered a team and went to work on the robotic device. Zheng said the team was able to convert two robotic arms. The devices use the same technology! that is used for space equipment, including moon explorers. The new robit is almost completely automated. Zheng said. It can even disinfect itself after performing actions involving patient contact. However. Zheng said he had heard from some doctors that ii would be better not to build such robots to be fully automatic. This is because many patients still desire a personal presence to help calm them during treatment.
The team currently has two robots and both have been tested by doctors at hospitals in Beijing. One machine was taken to Wuhan's Union Hospital where doctors were being trained to use it. The plan is to use the robot to help treat coronavirus patients, along with assistance from nurses and other hospital workers.
Zheng would like to build more of the robots, but said money from the university has run out. About S 72,000 has been spent on each robot. He said he does not plan to commercialize the design, but hopes that a company can begin that process.
1. What can we learn from Paragraph 2
A. The robot can record doctors' activities.
B. The robot can carry out actions automatically.
C. The robot can assist doctors to examine patients.
D. The robot can collect samples of patients' organs.
2. The underlined word "disinfect" in Paragraph 3 is the closest in meaning to "_____".
A. affect B. clean C. update D. fix
3. What can we infer about the robot according to Zheng Gangtie
A. It is very costly to make. B. It is highly recognized by doctors.
C. It can be purchased in the market soon. D. It can also be used in moon exploration.
4. What is the main purpose of the text
A. To introduce a new type of medical robot.
B. To provide guidance on treating COYID-19.
C. To describe the current condition of COVID-19.
D. To promote the commercialization of a new robot.
二、七选五
3. Is there a link between social media and depression Does social media have a negative impact on your mental health It's complicated.
In a recent study, the investigators compared social media use and depression among teens.
①________ Specifically, for every hour per day that one teen spent on social media more than his peers, he likely had a 0.64 point higher the depression score.
A different study published in 2018 identified five distinct types of social media users. The finding was that "problematic social media use" was one of the main themes for people whose mental health was affected by social media. You can have alcohol in your life without it being a problem, or your alcohol use may become problematic. ②________
There's one important thing to remember about survey research—two things happen together, and it's not necessarily true that one causes the other. ③________ For all we know, it could be that people who are already more depressed choose to spend more time on social media.
④________ If you think that we shouldn't paint social media with one broad brush, you're on the right track. On the one hand, participants often described social media as a valuable way to cope with stress. On the other hand, cyberbullying via social media was also a common experience for participants. Some also said that constantly checking their own social media profile was stressful.
It's certainly possible that experiences like cyberbullying, comparing yourself to idealized images, and constantly monitoring your profile, are bad for your mood. It's also true for many that social media offer community support and positive messages. Given the inconclusive research, it's safe to say that at least we shouldn't write off social media altogether. ⑤________ Anyway, you cannot use it as a crutch for coping with other stressors and mental health problems.
A. The same is true of social media.
B. Social media can be a double-edged sword.
C. People get more opinionated about the potential problems of social media.
D. They found that those who used social media more had higher depression scores.
E. They reviewed all existing research and found that there were both benefits and drawbacks.
F. The key to benefiting from social media may lie in using them in moderation and staying socially connected.
G. For example, it doesn't mean social media use causes depression just because higher social media use co-occurs with higher levels of depression.
三、语法填空

一、阅读理解
1. Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. It does, however, have its own problem.
Race walkers are conditioned athletes. The longest track and field event at the Summer Olympics is the 50-kilometer race walk, which is about five miles longer than the marathon. But the sport's rules require that a race walker's knees stay straight through most of the leg swing and one foot remain in contact (接触) with the ground at all times. It's this strange form that makes race walking such an attractive activity, however, says Jaclyn Norberg, an assistant professor of exercise science at Salem State University in Salem, Mass.
Like running, race walking is physically demanding, she says, According to most calculations, race walkers moving at a pace of six miles per hour would burn about 800 calories (卡路里) per hour, which is approximately twice as many as they would burn walking, although fewer than running, which would probably burn about 1,000 or more calories per hour.
However, race walking does not pound the body as much as running does, Dr. Norberg says. According to her research, runners hit the ground with as much as four times their body weight per step, while race walkers, who do not leave the ground, create only about 1.4 times their body weight with each step.
As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner's knee, are uncommon among race walkers. But the sport's strange form does place considerable stress on the ankles and hips, so people with a history of such injuries might want to be cautious in adopting the sport. In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, she says. It takes some practice.
1.Why are race walkers conditioned athletes
A. They must run long distances.
B. They are qualified for the marathon.
C. They have to follow special rules.
D. They are good at swinging their legs.
2.What advantage does race walking have over running
A. It’s more popular at the Olympics.
B. It’s less challenging physically.
C. It’s more effective in body building.
D. It’s less likely to cause knee injuries.
3.What is Dr. Norberg’s suggestion for someone trying race walking
A. Getting experts’ opinions.
B. Having a medical checkup.
C. Hiring an experienced coach.
D. Doing regular exercises.
4.Which word best describes the author’s attitude to race walking
A. Skeptical. B. Objective. C. Tolerant. D. Conservative.
2. If you have ever been disappointed because you don't have a good gardener, the clever robot may one day become the helper of the plants inside your house.
The Hexa Plant is a six-legged robot that has been specially made to care for the potted(盆栽的) plant that it carries on top of its head. Using light and heat sensors(传感器), the robot has the ability to carry its plant in and out of the daylight. If the houseplant needs more sun, the Hexa will walk into the sunlight; if the houseplant is getting too hot, the Hexa will go back into the area that blocks direct light. The Hexa Plant will even do a little dance when it senses that the plant needs to be watered to warn its owner.
The robot was developed by the Vincross engineer and founder Sun Tianqi after he saw a dead sunflower sitting in the darkness in a room back in 2014. "Plants only receive an action without responding," Sun Tianqi wrote in a blog post. "Whether they are being cut, bitten, burned or pulled from the earth, or when they haven't received enough sunshine, water, or are too hot or cold, they will hold still and take whatever is happening to them."
According to Sun Tianqi, for billions of years, plants have never experienced movement of any kind, not even the simplest movement. In their whole lives, they stick to where they were born. Sun Tianqi continued, "Do they want to break their own settings or have a tendency towards this I do not know the answer, but I would love to try to share some of this human tendency and technology with plants. With the help of the robot, plants can experience the move."
The Hexa Plant model robots are not for sale, though Vincross does sell a Hexa robot model. It is said that in the near future the robots can open up a new market to watch over our household plants.
1. What can we learn about the Hexa Plant
A. It helps people plant some flowers. B. It waters the plants through dancing.
C. It helps indoor plants get proper sunlight. D. It carries the potted plant with its hands.

一、阅读理解
1. As Internet users become more dependent on the Internet to store information, are people remembering less If you know your computer will save information, why store it in your own personal memory—your brain Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how.
In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow conducted some experiments. She and her research team wanted to know whether the Internet is changing memory. In the first experiment, they gave people 40 unimportant facts to type into a computer. The first group of people understood that the computer would save the information. The second group understood that the computer would not save it. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.
In another experiment, the researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a specific computer folder (文件夹). Surprisingly, people later remembered the folder location better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. Rather, they remember how to find it. This is called "transactive (交互) memory".
According to Sparrow, we are not becoming people with poor memory as a result of the Internet. Instead, computer users are developing stronger transactive memory; that is, people are learning how to organize huge quantities of information so that they are able to access it at a later date. This doesn't mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent, but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing.
1.The________.A.introduceA.introduceons to ________.A.introduceA.introduce the main topic B.show the author's attitude

2. Who cares if people think wrongly that the internet has had more important influences than the washing machine Why does it matter that people are more impressed by the most recent changes
It would not matter if these misjudgments were just a matter of people's opinions. However, they have real impacts, as they result in misguided use of scarce resources.
The fascination with the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) revolution, represented by the internet, has made some rich countries wrongly conclude that making things is so "yesterday" that they should try to live on ideas. This belief in "post-industrial society" has led those countries to neglect their manufacturing sector (制造业), with negative consequences for their economies.
Even more worryingly, the fascination with the internet by people in rich countries has moved the international community to worry about the "digital divide" between the rich countries and the poor countries. This has led companies and individuals to donate money to developing countries to buy computer equipment and internet facilities. The question, however, is whether this is what the developing countries need the most. Perhaps giving money for those less fashionable things such as digging wells, extending electricity networks and making more affordable washing machines would have improved people's lives more than giving every child a laptop computer or setting up internet centres in rural villages. I am not saying that those things are necessarily more important, but many donators have rushed into fancy programmes without carefully assessing the relative long-term costs and benefits of alternative uses of their money.
In yet another example, a fascination with the new has led people to believe that the recent changes in the technologies of communications and transportation are so revolutionary that now we live in a "borderless world". As a result, in the last twenty years or so, many people have come to believe that whatever change is happening today is the result of great technological progress, going against which will be like trying to turn the clock back. Believing in such a world, many governments have put an end to some of the very necessary regulations on cross-border flows of capital, labour and goods, with poor results.
Understanding technological trends is very important for correctly designing economic policies, both at the national and the international levels, and for making the right career choices at the individual level. However, our fascination with the latest, and our under-valuation of what has already become common, can, and has, led us in all sorts of wrong directions.
1. Misjudgments on the influences of new technology can lead to ____.
A. a lack of confidence in technology B. a slow progress in technology
C. a conflict of public opinions D. a waste of limited resources
2. The example in Paragraph 4 suggests that donators should _____.
A. take people's essential needs into account B. make their programmes attractive to people
C. ensure that each child gets financial support D. provide more affordable internet facilities
3. What has led many governments to remove necessary regulations
A. Neglecting the impacts of technological advances.
B. Believing that the world has become borderless.
C. Ignoring the power of economic development.
D. Over-emphasizing the role of international communication.
4. What can we learn from the passage
A. People should be encouraged to make more donations.
B. Traditional technology still has a place nowadays.
C. Making right career choices is crucial to personal success.
D. Economic policies should follow technological trends.
3. Facebook was running my life. But what killed Facebook for me was when I posted a photo, and five minutes later my son asked me how many "likes" it had got. His question was a wake-up call.
"Likes" are signs of acceptance and approval(赞同). I had forgotten that acceptance and approval needed to come from hearts and I had unknowingly set a bad example to him.
Before absorbed in Facebook, I spent a lot more time reading books and magazines. I checked in with friends through texts, emails and phone calls.
To set a healthier example to my son, I deactivated my Facebook account.
I'd been in the habit of checking Facebook many times a day, so I had to come up with some new habits. I carried a novel and a crossword puzzle book around with me. I rediscovered knitting. I started taking yoga classes.
I started to remember a few things. My body is fine just the way it is. I have friends who will help me out when I'm in trouble, and I will help them out. I do my best to be a good mother, and our son is happy and healthy. We are very lucky to be able to afford two vacations a year.
I stopped looking at the world through my smartphone. I felt completely present in the moment. The break left me feeling better about myself, my family, my home and my life.
After a few weeks, I returned to Facebook. Now I look at the photos of my friends' kids growing up and treasure how social media allows me to keep in touch with my family. I no longer have the desire to post updates often. It is not an addiction any more.

4.答案:DEABF
解析:语篇解读本文是一篇说明文,介绍了普通的书和电子书的优缺点。
①根据本空前的"Castles(城堡) and temples wear away after hundreds of years, but the symbols and e-books came from the development of words on the stone often survive."
Books and e-books share lots of similarities. They are both items created by great minds."可知,此处介绍普通书和电子书的相似之处,故E项(它们都有一个索引来介绍每本书的主题)符合语境。
③根据本空后的"Firstly, books don't have to be charged, while e-books need electricity if we want to read them."可知,普通书不需要充电,而电子书设备需要充电,由此可知本段讲的是普通书和电子书的不同之处,故A项(但是,它们也有不同之处)符合语境。
④根据本空前的"However, e-book devices are easy to carry."可知,电子书更方便携带,此处承接上文,说的是电子书的另一个优点,故B项(它们比普通书占用空间少)符合语境。
⑤根据本空前的"A disadvantage of e-book devices is that people tend to get distracted(分心)when they're using one, as many devices often have apps or games on them."
In our fast world of phones, fax machines and computers", 电话、传真机和电脑都是人与人沟通的方式,且该段最后一句提到作者很享受收到信、看到收信人并且享受信的内容,结合前后文的内容,作者偏爱写信这一与其他沟通方式不同的传统艺术。F项"Yet, to me, receiving a letter cannot be matched by any form of communication"(然而,对我来说,任何形式的沟通方式也不能与收到一封信的感觉相匹配)中提到的"any form of communication"即指代第一句中出现的电话、传真、电脑等交流方式。F项起承上启下的作用,故选F。
②第二段第一、二句提到从开始记事起写信就是作者生活中的一部分了,而且作者的妈妈也会在圣诞节和生日的时候给作者写信。D项提到"It didn't matter how short or untidy they were as long as they were letters"(只要是字母,无论长短或是凌乱都不重要),根据前文可知,作者从很小可能都不会写字的时候就开始写信,有可能字迹非常潦草,但真正重要的是作者家中写作这一传统。D项起总结上文的作用,故选D。
③第三段第二句提到"Occasionally my father would write and it was always a joy to receive his long, amusing letters",作者有时候也会收到父亲写的长长的、有趣的信。G项"The letters from him contained just everyday events concerning my parents and their friends"(他的信件只包含有关父母和他们朋友之间的日常)中提到的him指代的是前文中"my father"。G项起承上启下的作用, 故选G。
④第四段最后一句提到"I found that I could often express myself more easily in writing than by talking", 作者认为写信比说话更容易表达自己。第四段开头提到作者和男朋友年轻的时候分开工作或学习,只能通过信件联系,且该段最后提到作者觉得通过书信的形式更容易表达自己。由此说明作者通过书信的方式改善了和男朋友之间的关系。E项"But instead of harming the relationship, letter writing seemed to improve them"(但是,写信并没有损害这种关系,反而改善了这种关系)起承上启下的作用。故选E。
⑤最后一段第二、三句提到"Like my mother before me, I insist they write their own thank-you letters. My daughter writes to me little letters, just as I did to my mother", 作者也会像她妈妈一样要求自己的孩子写感谢信,就像作者小时候与她妈妈做的那样。由此可知,作者在拥有了自己的孩子后仍然保持着这个传统。B项"I am pleased that my children are carrying on the tradition"(我很高兴我的孩子也继承发扬着这个传统)为此段的中心句。故选B。

2. One day a man found a cocoon (茧) of a butterfly in the forest. He sat there for several hours and watched the butterfly. Suddenly a small opening appeared, and the butterfly struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could go no further. So the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon so that the butterfly could come out easily. Much to his surprise, the butterfly got a swollen body but very small, weak wings when it came out of the cocoon.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that the body would grow smaller at any moment and the wings would enlarge and be able to support the body. But neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and small wings. It was never able to fly.
The man was in his kindness, but he did not understand the nature rules. The struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening was God's way of forcing fluid (流体)from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
