一.阅读理解(共15小题)
1.(2023 巴中) Most of us spend all day at school or work. After a long and busy day,all we want to do is to return to a comfortable home.Smart technology can turn any home into a nicer place to live in.
Smart homes have been around for some time.A company called Pico Electronics invented a type of technology called X10 in 1975.As the earliest smart home technology,it allows household devices(家用设备),such as lights and alarms,to communicate with each other by using radio waves.
Of course,5 G network connectivity has made smart homes much more complicated(复杂的) than X10.Perhaps the most popular smart home technology is the voice﹣activated assistant.Users are allowed to communicate with almost any device in their homes simply by speaking a few words. This is especially convenient for children and people with disabilities,as the devices can help them finish tasks that would normally be too difficult.
Common household devices can become"smart"as well. For example, smart fridges can create dinner recipes with the vegetables that are being kept inside.
But smart homes are not just about convenience. They are also good for the environment.By regularly checking your energy use and automatically(自动地) turning off lights and other devices that you're using, smart homes can lower much electricity you use.Using less energy means that we use fewer natural resources(自然资源),which is good for the environment.

2.(2023 明光市二模)Have you ever read the book The Sounds of Life:How Digital Technology Is Bringing Us Closer to the Worlds of Animals and Plants? It talks about how AI is helping us to understand animals.
All around the animal kingdom, there are sounds that we can hardly pick up and decipher(破译).Elephants, for example, talk with each other, but we can't hear—far below our human sound.Coral in the ocean also sends sound waves(波) to pull baby coral to safer areas to grow. This is surprising as coral doesn't have any ears!Scientists have placed listening equipment(设备) into these environments to pick up the sounds humans cannot hear.
After the sounds are recorded,AI can study their meanings. For example, researchers used AI to translate bats'15,000 calls. They found that more than 60 percent were arguments about four things:food, sleep positions(姿势),personal space, and unwanted love.
This technology can not only understand the animals but communicate back to them. For example, bees use dances to communicate.A research team in Germany, therefore, put the bee language AI system into a robot bee. They asked the robot to create a dance routine(路线) to tell the bees where the nectar(花蜜) was.

3.(2023 临安区二模)ChatGPT,a new chatbot(chatting robot) model developed by a US company OpenAI,has quickly become a hit all over the world because of its advanced(高级的) abilities.
The online chatbot has been trained a lot.It can have a human﹣like conversation answering questions, finding out mistakes and refusing any improper questions.Experts say it can be used to write essays and even solve computer coding (解码).
So far,it has been used by more than 1 million users after it first appeared on November 30,2022.Gina Homolka,a food blogger, got it to write a recipe for healthy chocolate﹣chip cookies.Riley Goodside,a film﹣maker, asked it to write the script(剧本) for a Seinfeld episode.Roxana Daneshjou,a researcher at Stanford University, asked it some professional medical questions.New research found that the chatbot GPT﹣3 was able to pass the final exam for the school's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and even got a "B".
However, there were other voices about the use of ChatGPT.A large number of students are using ChatGPT for homework assignments, creating challenges around cheating and learning.89% in the survey report that they have used it to help them finish the homework.
In the United States, public schools in New York and Seattle have decided to stop ChatGPT from their devices and WiFi networks. In France, the famous Sciences Po university in Paris has also just announced a strict ban(禁令) on its use.
Actually,it's too soon to say what kind of influence ChatGPT will have on our lives. It has along way to go and big ideas yet to discover. We will stumble along the way,but we are sure to learn a lot if using it wisely. After all,it has opened a door to the future.

14.Big data(数据)is a lot of sets of information that are put together so they can be used by a computer program. The computer program looks for different kinds of answers or patterns in the data.Big data can have different kinds of information from many sources, such as information that comes from schools, social media sites, companies, and governments. One set of data can have people's names and addresses.
Another set can have what they like, which school they go to,and how much time they spend on the computer.
Big data can be used in many ways. The government uses it to understand how many people travel on buses or trains. This information is then used to make bus or train systems better. Some schools use big data to understand which children may need extra help in class. The teacher can then give certain students more help or support so those students can succeed in panies use big data, too. It helps them understand who buys their products. For example, one company uses weather data to see when people eat the most ice cream.
Big data can be used for good reasons. Some hospitals use big data to predict if a baby who is born too early will get sick. The hospital can then take extra steps to take care of that baby so he or she does not get sick.Big data can also be used for bad reasons. It can be used to predict which kinds of people are likely to break the law or hurt others, even if they have not done anything wrong.
How can big data be used for good and bad things? It is because the computer programs used to look at big data and understand it are written by people.People think in a certain way.Because they think in a certain way, they build a model of those ideas. These ideas are then used to look at the data.Sometimes, these ideas are helpful for people or businesses.Other times, bad ideas can cause problems for certain groups of people.

Robots Are Now Teaching English! Get ready.Robots are about to invade our classroom. From Korea to Japan to the United States, schools are putting English﹣speaking robots in front of their students. In Korea, robots are the new teaching assistants in a number of preschools and kindergartens. The young students say that the robots are fun,but are these children really learning anything? I don't think a computer will ever be able to do what a teacher does.A teacher has to be able to respond to students as individuals(个体).▲ ,and a teacher has to change his or her teaching style to fit the needs of the students.I seriously doubt that a computer will ever be able to do this even though the big data(数据) is widely used in the world.
Sara says: In my opinion, schools should spend money training human teachers rather than buying robots.Research shows that children learn more from real speakers than from recorded conversations. Keiko says: I don't think you can learn a language without real human interaction. After all, robots cannot think as humans do. Hassan says: Robots might be able to help people learn a language, but I don't think they should replace teachers because robots are just machines without human feelings. Nancy says: I think robots might be very helpful in the classroom.A child might be less afraid to make a mistake in front of a robot than in front of a real person.
