注意:① nowadays不能作名词的前置定语,可改用modern修饰,或把nowadays后置。如:

②nowadays是副词,不是名词,其前不用介词,也不用冠词。如:
Nowadays, people can hardly live without electricity.

▲2. not everyone 这里是部分否定用法。【这里的everyone=everybody,everybody更口语化。】也可以写成:everyone[everybody] ... not , 均可表示部分否定。如:

如果表示全部否定,要用Nobody,No one或者None。如:
Nobody comes late today.今天没人迟到。

▲9. I really don’t think (that) ... 我认为并不…… 否定转移现象,本来从句中的否定词转移到句子的主句来了。如:
I don’t think I know you.我想我不认识你。
I don’t think it is not a good thing.我认为这不是一件好事。
I didn’t think this man would want to hurt me.我想这个人不会伤害我的。
I don’t think she can go with you, can she 我认为她不能同你去,是吗?
I do not think (that) it will rain tomorrow.我认为明天不会下雨。
I don’t think he has passed the examination, has he 我认为他没有通过考试,是吗?
注意:①主语必须是we或者I; ②动词必须是表心理活动的这类动词,还有,如:suppose, believe, expect, fancy, imagine, figure等; ③反意疑问部分要根据从句主语和助动词而变化。

This book is well worth reading.
这本书非常值得一读。
The Great Wall of China is well worth a visit.

▲11.clean up 清理;清除;打扫干净
If they offer to help clean up, why say no
如果他们提出帮忙清洁,为什么要拒绝呢?

Eating out is a good choice and it has nothing to do with loss of traditions. We still have the dinner with the same people, just in a different place. The occasion is more enjoyable without all that tiring cooking, and the dishes taste better!
在外面吃年夜饭是个挺好的选择,而且也谈不上丢弃传统。我们还是和同样的人一起吃饭,只是换了地方而已。不用辛苦地做饭,用餐会更加愉快,而且(饭店的)饭菜味道也更好!

误区警示
occasion 作先行词且定语从句中缺少状语时,定语从句的关系词要根据 occasion的含义来定:
表示“ (特定的) 时刻”指时间时,关系词用when;
表示“ (仪式、庆典等) 重大场合”指地点时,关系词用 where。
Occasions are quite rare when I have the time to spend a day with my kids.
我很少有时间陪孩子们一天。
This is not an occasion for laughter, where you must take things seriously.
这不是大笑的场合,你应该认真对待。
▲15.taste link. v. 尝起来
These oranges taste nice.这些桔子味道很好。
Oh, it tastes delicious! 嗬,这东西味道太好了!
也可以加like,构成介词短语作表语。
It tastes like carrots. 这东西的味道像胡萝卜。
如果加of,表示吃起来像某种东西的味道。
This pudding tastes of lemon.这布丁有柠檬的味道。
This soup tastes of chicken.这汤里有鸡肉的味道。
In my opinion, what or where we eat on Spring Festival Eve really doesn’t matter. Eating out may change the form of this tradition, but the love between the family members sitting around the table together remains the same.
