History of football
2
Even though as early as the Waring States period (475- 221 B. C.), Chinese were playing a sport called cuju, which is considered to be the prototype (原型)of football, it is usually believed that modem football originated in the UK in the 19h century.
Back in medieval times(中世纪), people in towns and villages played “folk football ”games according to rules made by themselves. Therefore, different regions may have had different rules and the games could be really violent (暴力的) and destructive in some places. As a result, folk football was on the edge of being banned and prohibited(禁止).
However, things started to change when in 1843, students from the University of Cambridge made an attempt to standardize(使标准化)the rules of football. When they graduated and joined or started public or independent football clubs, they spread these “Cambridge rules" further. In 1863, after a series of meetings involving most football clubs from London the printed rules of football were produced.
This rule has been further developed into what we are familiar with today on the football fields.
When were the printed rules produced
Where did prototype of football originate?
Where did the modern football originate?
