Traditional Chinese Medicine is also called “TCM”, is an ancient system of traditional medicine. It has developed for thousands of years and is an important part of Chinese culture. Today people in 183 countries and areas are now using TCM. Massage (按摩), Guasha, Qigong, Tai Ji and acupuncture (针灸) are some common kinds of treatment of TCM. Chinese massage can make you relaxed and fresh. In acupuncture, doctors put long needles (针) into the patients’ heads, faces, arms and so on. It takes away pain, though the look is funny.
The earliest medical classic in China, Huangdi’s Classic on Medicine (《黄帝内经》), came out more than 2,000 years ago. The book is about the relationship between man and nature. According to TCM, imbalances in the human body can lead to health problems, so many TCM treatments focus on restoring this balance.
