Many seniors feel pressured to go straight from high school to college, but Camden Olson, who graduated from high school in the US last year, didn’t give in. She decided to spend a gap year — taking a year off before college — raising a guide dog for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. The non-profit company provides trained guide dogs to blind and visually-impaired (视力障碍的) people. “This is definitely something I’ve always dreamed to do.” Olson said.
Olson is using her time to follow a passion she’s had since 7th grade. For years, she kept an eye on guide dog services until she came across the opportunity at Guiding Eyes. Olson’s volunteer work centers around Derby, a one-year-old black dog. “My job is to raise him to be well-behaved and socialized,” she said. “Guide dogs can’t be distracted. They go everywhere with their visually-impaired owner. They give a blind person a lot of support, too.”
When Derby celebrates his own graduation, Olson will have to say goodbye to him, “There is no doubt that there will be tears, but, if he passes the test, I will be so glad for him to become a real working dog,” she said.
In fact, she’ll be attending Princeton University soon and she is thinking about majoring in biology. “I think I’m already so much more mature than I was,” she said. “So many kids come back from gap years a lot more focused and prepared.”
7. Why did Camden Olson decide to spend her gap year working for Guiding Eyes

然后描述他返回中国的决定,应接在选项A之后,因此选项C“However, he gave up a good job in UK and moved back to China in 2009. (然而,2009年,他放弃了在英国的一份好工作,回到了中国)”为第三句。
之后叙述他在回到中国后的工作,因此选项E“After that, he set up a lab in China, and sometimes paying for the equipment with his own money. (之后,他在中国建立了一个实验室,有时用自己的钱购买设备)”为第四句。
最后讲述他的人生结尾和影响,选项D“Unfortunately, he died because of a very bad disease at the age of 58. His life was so short, but burned so bright. (不幸的是,他在58岁时死于一种非常严重的疾病。他的生命如此短暂,却燃烧得如此明亮)”为结尾句。
