Teaching Aims:
■To predict the content of the text using the title and the pictures.
■To practise working out the meaning of unknown vocabulary from the context.

■To remember and use the topic vocabulary.
Teaching Important & Difficult Points:
To improve the students’ reading ability through predicting the content and guessing new words’ meaning.
To arouse the students’ awareness of protecting enviroment.

● Use the topic vocabulary to talk about the local river.

Step Ⅰ Lead-in
Present 5 yuan and talk about money
Step Ⅱ Warming up
Let students expre ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ss how much pocket money they can get each week. Ask students to say what things they like to spend money on.
Step Ⅲ Pre-reading
1. Students p ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )redict the content of the article by looking at the pictures and the title.
2. Ask them to read the paragraph in italics to check whether their predictions are true or not.
Step Ⅳ While-reading
