Debinha means “little Debs” in Portuguese (葡萄牙语) and she’s 1.57 metres tall. But she has no intention of getting too big for her football shoes. “Never go above someone else.” is her philosophy (人生哲学). Instead she says, it’s better to be a mirror for someone else, and to always be learning from your teammates in whatever you choose to do. After all, she says, “I didn’t get here alone.”
From street football in a provincial town in southeast Brail to one of the stars of the US National Women’s Soccer League and a mainstay of the Brazilian women’s team, Debinha, 31, has come a long way. She has appeared for her country more than 130 times and in 2022 was shortlisted for the BestFIFA Women’s Player award, the only South American to be nominated (提名). In addition to Brazilian clubs, she has played for teams in Norway and China, and is now with the Kansas City Current in the US. The greatest moment of her career so far has been standing for Brail in the 2016 Olympic Games, when they were held in her home nation. This summer she was working hard for her second World Cup.
“I always liked to play ball,” says Debinha, who first started playing it at eight in the square outside the candy factory where her mother worked in their home town of Brasopolis. If she wasn’t playing in the street, she was taking extra physical, education classes after school. Her mother always supported her. “Today, as always, my mother is my number one fan. Seeing my family cheering for me on the field, and seeing my family experiencing that along with me, you couldn’t put a price on it,” she said.
4. What can we know about Debinha in paragraph 1
A. She always wants to beat others.
B. She is open-minded and likes to learn.
C. She is very proud and goes above others.
D. She has too big football shoes on matches.
5. How is the text developed about Debinha’s success
A. By following space order. B. By giving examples.
C. By making comparisons. D. By listing reasons.
6. What made Debinha a football player
A. Her strong interest in ball. B. Her family’s suggestions.
C. Her strong wish to win. D. Her love to her motherland.
7. What is the text mainly about
A. The difficulty Debinha met. B. The secret to success.
C. A short introduction of Debinha. D. Support from a player’s mother.
C
Tourism can be both good and bad. Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates jobs for locals, but it may also bring some problems.
One growing problem is tourists who want to show that they have visited a destination. Tourists have used paint, rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor Temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, memorial stones at the bottom of Qomolangma, and many, many other places. Thousands of tourist sites are being destroyed by tourists who “love them to death”. I have three words for people like this: please stop it. If you want to leave a mark on the world, do it by changing someone’s life with kindness and love. Pass kindness along to future generations, not destruction.
Another big problem in some places has been tourists disturbing (打扰) the local people and life. Some tourists wander around and take pictures of local people without asking for their permission. For example, Chiang Mai University in Thailand and Yonsei University in South Korea have great numbers of tourists visiting their campuses and walking through their libraries and other public areas, taking pictures of students, and disturbing their studies. Another example is Sanlitun, a neighbourhood in Beijing, China. Some tourists love to party there late into the night, making it difficult for locals to sleep. I have three words for tourists like this: please be considerate (体谅的). Have fun in a way that does not disturb others.
The number of problems from tourists is endless: walking in large groups without considering others who need to walk by, crossing roads without thinking of local traffic laws, and many more. The only way to solve the problem of the terrible tourist is to make sure that you are not one! Be the best, kindest, most polite tourist as much as possible. Remember, whenever you step outside your country’s borders, you are representing your country to the rest of the world.
8. What does the underlined word “destruction” mean in the second paragraph
A. Breaking. B. Addiction. C. Discussion. D. Writing.
9. What can we learn from paragraph 3
A. People prefer to travel to different places of the world.
B. Tourists are not allowed to party late into the night.
C. Tourists are encouraged to take pictures with local people.
D. Some tourists disturb the local people and their life.
10. What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A. To explain the problem. B. To suggest a proper solution to the problem.
C. To introduce the importance of traveling. D. To call on readers to love their countries.
11. Which can be the best title for the text
A Tourism Can Be Both Good and Bad B. Pass Kindness Along to Future Generations
C Tourists Are Troublemakers D. Be a Good Tourist
D
Playing outside can do good to children in many ways. As little as 10 or 15 minutes can support physical and mental (精神的) development.
Generally speaking, children should aim to do 60 minutes of exercise per day. This could be running, climbing, skipping, jumping or kicking a ball at the park. Exercise helps children to stay fit and keep a healthy weight. It strengthens muscles and develops their balance. Exercise is also good for mental health. It gives off endorphins in their brains, which can make them feel happier.
Studies have shown that playing outside can develop children’s motor skills: Gross motor skills are our ability to make large movements with our arms or legs. There are lots of ways to develop gross motor skills outside. For example, running around, walking on the roads which are not smooth or climbing hills. Fine motor skills are our ability to make smaller movements often with our hands. Children can develop these skills by picking up small objects.
While playing outside, children can also build their vocabulary by naming the objects or animals they see around them. Ask your child to describe the view or find shapes in the clouds. Some children may find they’re happier to talk outside. With fewer people around watching or overhearing them, they can be more adventurous with their language.
Moving through new and different places can improve children’s spatial awareness (空间意识). Playing outside often means children have to use their imagination and communication skills. They are likely to have fewer toys outdoors and so have to create their own games. This can increase how much children talk to each other.
So you should think about chances in your daily life for children to spend time outdoors. Explore your local area. Or set up some activities or a family sports day.
12. What does the second paragraph mainly focus on
A. Time needed to do sports. B. Proper places for exercise.
C. Sports suitable for children. D. Advantages of doing exercise.
13. Which of the following is fine motor skill
A. Taking weightlifting exercise. B. Picking up stones on the beach.
C. Walking on the roads with care. D. Playing tennis on the playground.
14. Why do some children feel happy to talk outside
A. Because they have less stress from study. B. Because they like to take more adventures.
C. Because they feel less watched or overheard. D. Because they love animals living in the wild.
15. Who is the text mainly written for
A. Parents. B. Children. C. Teachers. D. Researchers.

They were no longer as comfortable as they should be, and David could tell that George needed a new pair of shoes and he decided to do something special for his friend on his birthday.
David’s thoughtful plan started with a conversation with his mum. He explained how much he cared for his friend George and how he wanted to gift him a pair of shoes for his birthday.
His mum, a kind and wise woman, agreed that it was a wonderful idea. She also wanted to teach David an important lesson about earning and giving. So, they discussed a plan together. “David,” his mum said, “I think it’s a lovely idea to buy shoes for George. But how about this I can give you some money for doing extra housework around the house. You can earn the money you need to buy the shoes. What do you think “David’s eyes lit up, and he smiled widely. “That’s a great idea, Mum! I want to do it. ”
David became a whirlwind (旋风) of activity around the house. He swept the floor, watered the plants, washed the clothes, and even helped his mum with the dishes. His determination to earn enough money for George’s gift shone through his every action.

Instead, she says, it’s better to be a mirror for someone else, and to always be learning from your teammates in whatever you choose to do.

Tourism can be both good and bad. Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates jobs for locals, but it may also bring some problems.
One growing problem is tourists who want to show that they have visited a destination. Tourists have used paint rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor Temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, memorial stones at the bottom of Qomolangma, and many, many other places.
A. Tourism Can Be Both Good and Bad B. Pass Kindness Along to Future Generations
C. Tourists Are Troublemakers D. Be a Good Tourist
【答案】8. A 9. D 10. B 11.

【答案】12. D 13. B 14. C 15. A

David and George were best friends at school. They sat together in the same school classroom, shared sandwiches during lunch breaks, and had countless adventures together,
As George’s birthday approached, David noticed something that concerned him. It was George’s shoes, the soles (鞋底) of which were nearly worn through.
As days turned into weeks, David saved penny by penny. His mum was impressed by his hard work. She knew that her son’s surprise for George would not only make his friend happy but would also teach David the joy of giving.

【答案】范文
Finally, George’s birthday came and David invited George to his home for a celebration. David led George to the living room. “George,” David said, “I have a surprise for you.” George was a little confused. David took out a present wrapped in shiny paper. He handed it to George, saying, “Happy Birthday, my friend!” George was filled with curiosity as he carefully unwrapped the gift. The surprise and happiness on his face were evident as he saw the new pair of shoes. David explained, “I wanted to get you something special for your birthday, and I saved up money to buy these shoes for you.”
George was so moved by the gift he received. He couldn’t imagine how long it took David to save the money to buy the gift. His eyes were filled with excited tears, and he gave David a big hug, “You’re an angel, David! Thanks!” David was also so happy that George liked the gift. For George, the shoes David had given him weren’t just a pair of shoes; they were a symbol of their friendship. The two friends shared a heart-warming moment, and their friendship grew even stronger. They knew that the joy of giving and the warmth of true friendship were the best gifts of all.
