Be able to understand and complete the reading and listening tasks accurately. 三、Teaching Difficult Points 1. Use the correct verb forms (be verbs and have/has) to describe people's appearance. 2. Distinguish and use the descriptive words precisely when describing people. 四、Teaching Methods 1. Greet the students and have a free talk. T: Good morning/afternoon, class! How are you today Ss: Good morning/afternoon, teacher! We are fine. T: Let's start our English class. Before that, let's talk about something interesting. Do you like making friends Ss: Yes! T: When you meet new friends, how do you know them 2. Show some pictures of famous people or cartoon characters on the PPT and ask students to describe their appearance. T: Look at this picture. Who is this What does he/she look like Ss: This is Mickey Mouse. He is short and cute. He has big ears and black eyes. Step 2: Presentation (10 minutes) 1. Present the new words and phrases Show pictures of different people with various appearances and introduce the words and phrases, such as tall, short, long hair, short hair, black hair, blond hair, etc. T: Look at this person. He is tall. (Point to the picture) Repeat after me, tall. Ss: Tall. T: And this girl has long hair. (Point to the picture) Long hair. Ss: Long hair. 2. Present the sentence patterns Write the sentence patterns on the blackboard: What does he/she look like He/She is... He/She has... T: Now, let's learn how to describe people's appearance. For example, if I want to know what your friend looks like, I can ask, "What does your friend look like " You can answer, "He/She is tall. He/She has short hair." Do you understand Ss: Yes. Step 3: Practice (15 minutes) 1. Pair work Ask students to work in pairs and describe their classmates' appearance to each other using the new words and sentence patterns. T: Now, work with your partner. Take turns to describe your classmates' appearance. S1: What does [classmate's name] look like S2: He/She is tall. He/She has black hair. 2. Group work Divide the students into groups of four. Each group chooses a person and describes his/her appearance. Then, one member of the group reports to the class. T: Now, let's work in groups. Choose a person in your group and describe his/her appearance. Then, one of you come to the front and tell us. Group 1: We choose [classmate's name]. He is short. He has blue eyes and short brown hair. Step 4: Reading (8 minutes) 1. Ask students to read the passage on page 32 and complete the table. T: Now, open your books to page 32. Read the passage and complete the table. 2. Check the answers with the students. T: Let's check the answers. Who wants to share Step 5: Grammar Focus (5 minutes) 1. Explain the use of be verbs (am, is, are) and have/has in the sentences. T: Look at these sentences. We use 'am' when the subject is 'I'. We use 'is' when the subject is he/she/it. We use 'are' when the subject is you/we/they. And we use 'have' when the subject is I/you/we/they. We use 'has' when the subject is he/she/it. Do you understand Ss: Yes. 2. Do some exercises to consolidate the grammar points. T: Now, let's do some exercises. Choose the correct words to complete the sentences. Step 6: Summary and Homework (2 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of this lesson. T: Today, we learned how to describe people's appearance. We learned some new words and sentence patterns. Remember to practice them after class. 2. Assign homework Ask students to describe the appearance of their family members in English and write it down.
