Grammar A: Giving instructions
1. We start a sentence with the base form of a verb when we want to tell people what to do.
e.g. Put up a picture on the wall.
Paint the walls blue.
e.g. Don’t cross that rope!
No parking.
You must not touch anything.
Tim isn’t allowed to play football after 6: 00 p.m.
2. We often add do not / don’t in front of a verb or add no in front of a noun or v-ing when we want to tell people not to do something. We can also use the sentence structure “sb. must not do sth.” or “sb. be not allowed to do sth.”.
3. We often add please in a sentence to make an instruction more polite.
e.g. Please fix the shelf for me.

No visit to Paris is complete without a trip to the Louvre Museum, one of the largest and most famous art museums in the world. The Louvre is in a beautiful old palace next to the River Seine, but you enter through a modern glass pyramid that the museum added in 1989. Inside, there are about 35,000 works of art. You can see objects and paintings from different centuries.
Probably the most famous painting in the Louvre is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. He painted it in the early sixteenth century. It shows a young woman smiling. Everyone who looks at the Mona Lisa wonders what she is thinking about.
