Step 1：Warming-up and listening
1. Look at some pictures of the wonders of the world.
2. Talk about the picture. You can use the words in the box to help you.
3. Listen and check the words you hear.
Step 2：Listening and reading
1. (Close the books) Listen to the tape carefully.
2. Ask the students to read through the conversation individually.
3. Play the tape and have them read and follow.

我们给《世界奇观》节目打电话，加入讨论吧。
join in 的意思是“参加某种活动，加入到”。
例如：We all joined in the game. 我们都参与了游戏。
2．And I think the Giant’s Causeway is the most fantastic natural wonder.
我认为巨人之路是最神奇的自然奇观。
巨人之路（Giant’s Causeway）位于英国北爱尔兰安特里姆郡北部海岸，由大量多边形石柱组成，绵延数百米，呈阶梯状延伸入海。1986 年，巨人之路及其海岸（Giant’s Causeway and Causeway Coast）被联合国教科文组织列入世界自然遗产名录。

太阳从我身后升起，照在岩石上。地面（仿佛在 随光线）向下延伸，(逐渐) 退落到下面深谷中的一条河里。这两个句子用behind, on, below, away 和down 几个介词和副词生动地展现了太阳升起时作者在大峡谷观察到的奇妙景象。
...the ground fell away…形象的描述了随着阳光的照射，作者仿看到地面在下逐渐显露出谷底的河流。
大峡谷（Grand Canyon）位于美国西南部亚利桑那州。由于科罗拉多河穿流其中，故又名科罗拉多大峡谷
