课文解读
1. There were lots of things to do… 有许多事情要做……。动词不定式to do “要做的” , 在句中做后置定语,修饰things。
Eg：There are many letters to write. 有很多信要写。

2.There was a big garden with lots of trees and there was a small lake with fish in it. ……在那儿有一个带有许多树的大花园,还有一个里面有许多鱼的小湖。
(1)with 为介词,意为 “带有,具有”。
如：I have a big bag ______ four pockets. 我有一个带有四个口袋的大包。
(2)fish 做名词,意为“鱼,鱼肉” ,为不可数名词; 但是指鱼的种类时为可数名词（复数fishes ）; 不特指鱼的种类，仅指“活鱼,有生命的鱼” ，单复数同形。

3. It was great to play there. 在那儿玩很开心。It是形式主语，真正的主语是to play there，为了避免头重脚轻。
“It+be+adj. +(for sb. ) +to do sth.” 意为“做某事(对某人来说)是……的。
