表达在12岁的时候我们还可以用: at 12/at age 12.

take a name”相当于“choose to have a new name” 开始使用新名字。
in the 1860s 不是具体时间，而是指“19世纪60年代” “in + the +整数年 + s ”为固定用法，表示“…世纪…年代”。

2. Shakespeare went to London and joined a theatre company in about 1592.
1）join意思是“加入，参加”，如： My brother joined the army in 1995 and joined the Party three years later. 我哥哥1995年参军，三年后入了党。
2）join指加入某个团体或组织，而take part in 指参加某种活动。
3. He was rich and successful.他富有并且成功。
successful 成功的，形容词； successfully 成功地，副词；
success 成功，名词； succeed使成功，动词。
succeed in doing sth 成功地做某事，
如：He succeeded in passing the final exam.他成功地通过了期末考试。
4.die动词“死”、dead形容词“死了的”、death名词“死”。
如：（1）His grandfather died ten years ago.(2)His grandfather has been dead for ten years.(3)His grandfather’s death made him very sad.
5. still，副词，仍然。位置：肯定句中，be/助动/情态动词之后，实义动词之前；否定句中，否定词之前。
He was still working when I saw him. 当我看见他的时候，他仍在工作。

1. 一般过去时：表示过去某个时间里发生的动作或状态、过去习惯性、经常性的动作、行为；过去主语所具备的能力和性格。
基本结构：主语+动词过去式+其他；
否定形式：①was/were + not.
②在行为动词前加didn't，同时还原行为动词。
一般疑问句：Did+主语+do+其他？
时间状语：
ago（two hours ago), yesterday, last week,
the day before yesterday, last(year, night, month…)
具体时间, just now, one day, long ago, this morning, at that time.
行为动词过去式变化规律：
直接加ed walk-walked
以e结尾，直接加d live-lived
以辅音字母加-y结尾的动词，变y为i，再加-ed hurry—hurried
以元音字母加辅音字母结尾的重读闭音节动词，先双写词尾该辅音字母，再加-ed stop—stopped
不规则动词 go-went
