Features of the poem:

本诗为无韵脚诗,此类诗歌不强调行尾韵脚,无需考虑押韵的问题,且每行长短有别,其节拍性不如有韵脚诗那么强。
但是它并非毫无节奏,它往往通过相同的语句结构和反复重复的元、辅音发音进行弥补,令人读来别有一番情趣。
在本诗中,我们读到大量的When…, I should be allowed to …和I…语句,我们耳畔不停想起"I"音和"s(z)"音。这些语句结构和语音特点衬托出诗歌的复现性特征,加之各行自身的语句重音,体现了节奏感,弥补了失缺韵脚的不足。
