A
Four Best Islands to Visit in November
No matter what the year has thrown at you, a November trip to a tropical (热带的)island is a great experience. Follow along for four of the best islands to visit in November.
Curacao Island
Curacao Island is surrounded by colorful fish and coral (珊瑚) gardens, making it one of the best diving destinations in the Caribbean. This island packs a lot more than that. The island earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (联合国教科文组织世界遗产)for its historic colored buildings. Besides, November also brings calm waters and clear air, which means excellent visibility for divers.
Sanibel Island
Sanibel Island in November sees the end of the rainy season and fewer crowds. While the weather is still perfect for the beach in Sanibel Island, things cool off at night. So you won’t be sweating every minute of the day. Cooler weather opens up opportunities for bike rides around the island. Besides, You could easily find a comfortable house on the seafront without breaking the bank.
Molokai
While November might mark the start of its wet season, lower prices and fewer tourists make travelling to Molokai during this period still attractive. Molokai is often called Hawaii’s forgotten island, no big resorts, just untouched landscapes. Besides colorful plants in every direction, Molokai also experiences an increase in cultural events: Thanksgiving festivities and the Hawaii International Film Festival spring to mind.
Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is almost as untouched as the day it was created. Each island is a forest-covered mountain hiding secret lakes at their base. So why hasn’t the place become hot popular in the world of tropical tourism Well, it’s far (and pricey) to get to, and accommodation costs a pretty penny. Apart from that, the area is a protected national park.
21. Which of the following has been officially recognized throughout the world
A. Curacao Island. B. Sanibel Island. C. Molokai. D. Raja Ampat.
22. What do Sanibel Island and Molokai have in common
A. They hosted the Hawaii International Film Festival.
B. Their rainy seasons are almost at the same time.
C. They are cheap and quiet to visit in November.
D. They are hot all day and night in November.
23. Why does Raja Ampat fail to become hot popular
A. It has few attractions.
B. It is costly and controlled.
C. It doesn’t offer accommodation.
D. It is dangerous with hidden lakes.

My good friend, George, was influenced by his parents, who are some of the best examples of giving, whether they get paid or not.
When I was a little child, I joined George and his mom in going to Erin’s house, bringing food and daily supplies with us. Obviously, Erin’s family faced economic trouble and could hardly afford food. George and I took several bags of things to the door, rang the bell and ran off. Erin still doesn’t know to this day who did that. Since then, I’ve always given whatever I could afford to help the people in need.
You never knew what my act would lead the people in need to do. A few years ago, I came across a homeless man begging for money to get bread at a bus stop. I could have ignored him, but I felt sorry for him and pulled out my wallet. I only had $ 20 in my hand. I was just a college student. However, I handed him the money, and he promised me that he’d find a job to make a living. When I got on the bus, he smiled at me and said,“I’ll remember you forever!”I also smiled. It totally made my day, and I would also never forget his face. Later, I lent my phone to one boy to call his family and managed to help his worried mother find a job online.
Though an act of kindness toward anyone can seem like no big deal to me and cost me nearly nothing, I believe in the effects it can have on other people. Hopefully, they still have faith in humanity. It’s the kind of interaction that is more valuable than money. Since doing good is within our power, let’s help out more.
24. What made the author start helping others
A. The request from Erin.
B. The request from George’s parents.
C. His childhood experience of doing good with George.
D. His past experience of giving money to the homeless.
25. How does the author develop paragraph 3
A. By giving reasons. B. By giving examples.
C. By making suggestions. D. By making comparisons.
26. What is the author’s purpose in writing the last paragraph
A. To call on people to do good.
B. To explain doing good costs nothing.
C. To advise people to remember others’ help.
D. To show interaction is as valuable as money.
27. What is the best title for the text
A. Give to Get Paid B. Try to Make My Day
C. A Big Deal with the Honest D. The Power of Kindness

A new study from a German research group says climate change will reduce everyone’s income (收入) by about 19 percent over the next 25 years. That would be about $ 38 trillion per year. But the report warns it could get worse between 25 and 75 years from now if nothing is done soon. Developed countries such as Germany, the United States and France would face smaller decreases. The researchers foresaw that people living in those countries would see 11to 13 percent less income. The greatest economic effect will be felt by people in the least-developed nations.
The researchers first estimated(估算)what the world’s economic growth would be without climate change. They then applied those values to the damage to economies if climate change continues at its present pace. There will still be economic growth, but it will be 19percent lower in most places once the damage of climate change is taken into consideration.
Most at the research group have been centering on extreme weather events such as heat waves, floods, typhoons, hurricanes and other large storms. However, the effects are still mainly driven by average warming or overall temperature increases. The average world temperature last year was a record. That number was 1. 35 ℃ above the average during pre-industrial times, before modern technology.
In the US, the southeastern and southwestern states such as New Mexico and Arizona are estimated to suffer the largest economic effects. In Europe, Spain and Italy are likely to feel the effects more than countries like Denmark and Germany. Areas that are usually cold for most of the year—Canada, Russia, Norway, Finland, and Sweden—will have good results from warming.
Experts note that the world’s poorest countries are also the least prepared to adapt to climate change. Those countries are least responsible for the change, but they will agonize 60percent more income loss than wealthy nations.
28. What does the new study mainly show
A. The causes of climate change.
B. The process of climate change.
C. The health problems caused by climate change.
D. The economic losses caused by climate change.
29. What have most of the researchers been focusing on
A. Application value. B. Modern technology.
C. Natural disasters. D. Temperature decreases.
30. Why is Canada less affected by climate change
A. It has a large area. B. It has cold weather.
C. It is underdeveloped. D. It has a small population.
31. What does the underlined word “agonize” in the last paragraph mean
A. Suffer. B. Research. C. Avoid. D. Reduce.
D
Inside a recording room at Queen Mary University of London, several researchers are working with new artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Their aim is to develop what they call the “new virtual (虚拟的)worlds” of music. Andrea Martonelli and Max Graf are among more than 30 doctoral students working with Mathieu Barthet, a senior lecturer in Digital Media. They are exploring the possibilities of computational creativity and generative AI to build these virtual worlds. Generative AI is a term that describes technology tools designed to operate at human levels. Together, the researchers have set up a future studio where music meets most advanced technology.
Martonelli played a HITar, a guitar with AI sensors(传感器)added to it. The sensors can read his movements to create drum-like sounds that accompany(伴随)the guitar music. These sounds cannot be made with a normal guitar. Generative AI grew in popularity last year thanks to a robotic language system. Generative AI can create new sounds, words for music or entire songs on its own. But artists usually use simpler AI to add to their sounds.
Musicians worry that the technology could go too far. Amy plays in an English rock group. She said she is not in support of the music that includes artificially made voices of actual artists. She said she felt the same way about using dead artists’ voices in songs. In November, the rock group released a song. It is considered the group’s last song and includes a musician’s voice, who died in 1980. His sounds were taken from an old recording and recreated with AI.
A famous singer said, “I think AI can have its place in the music production chain.” But he added, “This is only possible if the technology is guided in the right way and if there are rules in place to make sure that musicians keep some amount of control.”
32. What are the doctoral students working on
A. The history of traditional music.
B. The influence of AI on human creativity.
C. The development of musical instruments.
D. The creation of virtual music environments.
33. What is the function of the sensors added to the HITar
A. To provide backing music.
B. To control the language system.
C. To improve the singer’s voice qualities.
D. To monitor the guitarist’s movements.
34. What is Amy’s attitude to the music made by AI
A. Curious. B. Unfavorable. C. Uncaring. D. Thankful.
35. What does the famous singer in the last paragraph say about AI
A. It is a possible way to make music rules.
B. It should be stopped in music production.
C. It should be used wisely for creating music.
D. It is the only way to make dead artists’ voices alive.

Mike, a pediatric cardiologist(小儿心脏病专家), lost a bunch of keys while cycling to the park to meet a friend. The keys were attached to a keychain with a crystal (水晶) photo of his daughter, which held great emotional value for him.
The crystal photo was more than just a decoration; it held his love for his daughter, whose smiling, lovely face always gave him strength, especially during challenging moments at work
When Mike realized the keys were missing, he felt anxious. He thought they might have fallen out of his backpack during the ride. Determined to find them, he retraced his steps and searched almost all the road. However, he still couldn’t find them. Then he came up to check with the park service center, but several days later, there were no replies.
As the last effort, Mike turned to social media. He shared a heartfelt post in an online neighborhood group, describing his situation. The post was reshared by several community groups, quickly spreading the word for everyone to keep an eye out for the missing keys.
At the same time, a man named Chris found the keys near a tree in the park. Chris found them when he was on the way back home after caring for his little son at hospital, who had been suffering from serious heart disease. When he saw the photo of the little girl on the keychain, he thought they must be the keys of a parent who loved his or her daughter so much. Wanting to give them back to the owner, however, Chris didn’t have any identifying information(识别信息). 参考范文:
Dear Mike,
You asked about the class that left the deepest impression on me in high school, and I’m excited to share it with you.
It was a science class on physics, specifically about the laws of motion. Our teacher, Mr. Chen, made the subject come alive with his enthusiasm and interactive experiments. I remember we built our own mini roller coasters in class, which not only helped us understand the concepts better but also made learning fun.
This class changed my perspective on learning. I realized that education isn’t just about memorizing facts but also about hands-on experiences and understanding the world around us. It aroused my curiosity and made me appreciate the beauty of science.
Yours,
Li Hua

参考范文:
When Chris arrived at home, his daughter happened to see Mike’s online post. After checking the information and confirming the owner, Chris tried to contact the owner through the social media without any delay. Seeing the message left about the lost keys, Mike was excited and replied at once. They couldn’t wait to arrange a meeting. When Mike and Chris finally met, Chris returned the keys to Mike. Getting his keys with the precious crystal photo of his daughter back, Mike was more than grateful to Chris, expressing his thanks to Chris over and over again, who smiled and said he was simply happy to help.
When Mike and Chris talked, they quickly discovered their connection, leading to a heartfelt conversation about the heart disease of Chris’ son. In return for Chris’ kindness, Mike offered to provide a special health consultation for his son. Chris was touched and said, “This is the most surprising gift we have ever received!” Later, Mike shared the story on the social media, where it received thousands of likes and comments. People were moved by the story of kindness and the amazing connection between them. They believed that a small act of kindness could truly make a big difference, bringing people together and creating connection in some way.
