The initials, WWF, stands for World Wide Fund for Nature.Its aim was to protect the natural habitats of wild animals in danger of extinction.It became interested in activities which have an effect on the environment and introduced environmental education into schools.They include work in protecting forests, energy and educating students in schools.The WWF was founded in Switzerland in the year 1961.
Peter Scott was both a painter and a naturalist.
At present the organization has branches in 130 countries.
