There are many successful women working for science. They act as role models to young women in their efforts (努力) in science and technology. Sally Ride is one of them. She was the first American woman to fly in space. She set up the Sally Ride Science and the Sally Ride Science Festival. She was born (出生) on May 26, 1951, in Los Angeles, Calif. She liked to run and play tennis and volleyball. After high school, she entered Stanford University. She applied (申请) to be an astronaut in 1977. One day, I got a call from a man named David. “I want to help an old man. He just is ill. Can I pay for it without letting him know ” He asked. David was a very kind man.
