It seems you can ask artificial intelligence (AI) programs anything, and they'll give you an answer back. So, can they tell jokes This question was raised when UK comedian Karen Hobbs performed in late June. Instead of the usual tokes she created, Hobbs delivered jokes written by ChatGPT. The process made her very tense.
Hobbs said that when she asked ChatGPT for a joke, immediately, what it provided was a man joking about being impatient with his shopping-obsessed girlfriend. Even when she asked to switch to the woman's perspective, the joke still featured a shopping-obsessed girlfriend, just told from the first-person perspective. It's no surprise that many jokes come from a male perspective in online materials, as males dominate the field of comedy.
The BBC commented that AI storytelling can only reproduce information that already exists in some form, although it can produce some never-before-seen combinations of ideas. “One way that AI can tell jokes is to do what any 5-year-old does—repeat a successful joke they have heard or try to make an obvious variation of it, ” said Les Carr, a professor of web science.
Nonetheless, a good joke in real life can always adjust to the audience's feedback, which often leads comedians to improvise (即兴创作) . This, unfortunately, is beyond the current capabilities of AI. For instance, in improv, there is no space for planning; the comedian must rely only on their instinctive reaction to the audience.
“A well-done stand-up bit can lead the audience through a funny story all the way to a hilarious punchline (令人捧腹的妙语) ,” Michael Ryan, a student researching AI's impact on comedy, explained to the BBC. “The whole time the comedian knew exactly where he or she was going with the joke and brought the audience there. ”
However, this could all change. Research is already ongoing with the goal of giving AI a greater understanding of the world around it, which makes the future of Al tokes still uncertain.
61. How did Hobbs feel about the process of telling jokes created by ChatGPT
A. Nervous. B. Ashamed. C. Relaxed. D. Delighted.
62. Why do many jokes come from a male perspective in online materials
A. Women are usually ignored by AI. B. Women don't like telling jokes.
C. Men write most of the jokes. D. Men are more humorous than women.
63. What is AI unable to do with jokes
A. Repeat jokes. B. Adapt jokes. C. Improvise jokes. D. Combine jokes.
64. What is the author's attitude toward the future of AI-created jokes
A. Uncaring. B. Skeptical. C. Disapproving D. Hopeful.
65. What can we learn from the passage
A. AI has surpassed human comedians in creating original jokes.
B: AI's joke-telling ability still need improving in the future.
C. AI is unable to create jokes because it lacks a sense of humor.
D. The future of AI in comedy is certain to replace human comedians.

I laugh a lot, and my laugh is so loud that it can be heard even in a big room full of people. For me, laughing is a way to show how happy I am, and it's not just my voice; my whole body is involved.
But what is happiness, really
Life can be tough, but if you pay attention, you can find happiness in lots of places: like when you see a pet playing happily, when someone does something nice, or even in quiet moments.
How can you find happiness Let me give you an example. A friend of mine moved to a new place and I helped him. He was really happy and relaxed after we finished. I felt happy too. just by helping him. You can find happiness by noticing how it feels when you smile. Where does your body light up when you smile When I smile, it makes me want to take a deep breath, and I notice my shoulders and belly relaxing. When I embody caring and loving, it feels great!
Sadly, many of us are unaware of happiness, or suspicious (怀疑的) of it. Maybe you are afraid to open up to happiness, or maybe you are so unfamiliar with what happiness feels like that you ignore or resist it when it comes knocking. No one, other than you, owns your happiness. But remember, only you can decide how happy you are, and sometimes we stop ourselves from being happy without realizing it. The fact is that when you can't embody happiness, you miss out on one of life's essential vitamins
Want to be happier Don't be afraid to look a bit silly. Silliness helps us take things less personally and see the world in a more fun way, like a child does. When we find happiness in the smalls of everyday life, we can embody happiness, rather than just pursuing it.
66. What does the author consider laughter to be
A. A way to attract people. B. A way to move the body.
C. A way to show happiness. D. A way to show off himself.
67. What might be the author's advice on finding happiness
A. Smiling to your friends. B. Doing small acts of kindness.
C. Reflecting on nothingness. D. Taking a deep breath.
68. Many of us miss out on happiness because we _________.
A. are insensitive to it B. are afraid to lose it
C. refuse to accept it on purpose D. lack life's essential vitamins
69. According to the author, we can increase our happiness by _________.
A. avoiding being silly carefully B. taking things less seriously
C. focusing only on big achievements D. exploring the world in person
70. What message does the author convey in this text
A. He who laughs last laughs best. B. Happy people are happy in childhood.
C. Worry does not seek, but man seeks it. D. Happiness is everywhere, and find it.

Some inspiring grown-ups have a way of bringing out the very best in kids, and they will continue to have a special place in those children's hearts well into adulthood.
Cori Laemmel is one of the paragon, thanks to her theater program in Nashville, Tennessee. When her students and their parents found out that the school was in danger of shutting down, they all came together to surprise her with support and love.
Cori is the artistic director at The Theater Bug where she's written and produced 10 plays. Before her career at The Theater Bug, she has directed and produced numerous other productions at theater companies in Nashville as well as in California.
Cori's achievements are certainly admirable, but it's her spirit and love for her work, and her students, that makes her stand out. Her program at The Theater Bug sees around 350 kids every year who are able to learn singing, dancing, and acting at a young age. Traditionally, kids have to wait until middle or well into high school to take part in theater programs.
In 2020, The Theater Bug is, sadly, losing its physical space because of a shortage of money. Knowing this, the students and their parents (including country singer, Dierks Bentley) teamed up with “Good Morning America” (GMA) to surprise Cori with a $20, 000 check to put towards the program.
The surprise went off wonderfully, and Cori couldn't help but thank her students and the people around them that made it all possible. She told GMA, “From raising the quality of the Bug to the art they're making and the kindness they're putting into the world, they're simply the best. ”
For Cori's students, this surprise was something that was well-deserved. One of her students said, “She has taught me to be myself and to be brave and to keep going no matter what. ”

Hi. I'm Sam and I'm a freshman at Brown University. Most of my classes are in the morning so I get up early. I usually get up at 6: 30 am, but these days I get up half an hour earlier to do some work before going to class. I work better in the morning because I can concentrate then. Most of the people I share a house with have afternoon classes so they get up late. I don't like noise when I study so the mornings are a great time to study.
I try not to use any paper when I study. I like to keep all my notes on my computer so I don't lose them. I have my phone on all the time even when I'm studying. I use it to check information. but I turn the sound off.
As part of my course, I have to work on group projects with my classmates. That can be difficult sometimes, but I do learn a lot from working in a team.

Dear Jimmy,
I'm excited to hear about your “Character Short Video Contest”. As you're interested in Chinese historical figures as your subject matter, I would like to recommend to you one of my favorite figures, the great Chinese philosopher and educator, Confucius.
One of the reasons I admire Confucius is his dedication to education. He believed that education should be accessible to all. His philosophy promotes the idea that everyone has the potential to improve themselves and contribute positively to society. This is a message that I think would resonate well in your video and could inspire viewers to value education and personal growth. Another compelling aspect of Confucius's life is his journey. Despite facing many challenges, he never gave up on his mission to spread his teachings.
I hope that Confucius's story will provide you with rich material for your video. I'm confident that your video will bring Confucius's wisdom to life, inspiring viewers. Best of luck in the competition!
Yours,
Li Jin
