They talk about the straw that broke the camel’s back, but really it should be the password that wiped out my memory bank.
I was going along fine with instant recall of my bank PIN, my mobile phone number and the date of my cousin’s birthday before I downloaded a gas station payment app for its new customer discount. It asked me to create a password. When I typed in “gas 1”, it was rejected for not being complex enough. I tried again: “IHateHearlessOilCompanies@”. But that was too long and didn’t include “at least one number”. But here is the thing: as soon as I added the fresh password into my memory, I instantly forgot all the others. My brain had hit its limit for passwords. I now know nothing.
I had entered some passwords in a notebook. Of course, I didn’t write down the actual passwords, in case it fell into the wrong hands. Instead, I masked them in a way that only a family member could figure them out. For example, I combined my bank PIN with our postal code, then added it to a list of phone numbers. It would fool even Albert Einstein.
Maybe we need a system like the one we use to remember people’s names. You know, you form an association between a person’s characteristics and their name by whispering “Skinny George. Skinny George” in heart after meeting them. The risk is that, upon seeing him, you’ll burst out the phrase. “Skinny George” might not mind, but it’s possible “Boring Betty” will. As for remembering passwords as you change them, you could simply use the first and last letters of your favorite singer’s greatest hits, together with the year of their release.
Maybe I’ll try that one out, but only after describing the system in the notebook. Then I’ll hide it in a place so secret that I’ll never remember where it is.
24. What can we learn about the author from the first two paragraphs
A. He fell for a marketing trick. B. He was driven mad by passwords.
C. He had a serious memory disorder. D. He was rejected by the gas station.
25. By mentioning Albert Einstein in paragraph 3, what does the author mean to do
A. To advertise a more scientific password system. B. To fool the intelligent scientist in his way.
C. To prove the uselessness of his passwords. D. To show how safe his passwords were.
26. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A. To encourage readers to use password notebooks.
B. To recommend a password-remembering method.
C. To complain about the trouble caused by passwords.
D. To highlight the importance of using complex passwords.
27. How does the author sound in this passage
A. Humorous. B. Indifferent. C. Serious. D. Absurd.

Adaptations are the currency of the movie industry. It’s common to see that the latest hit movie or thrilling drama is inspired by a novel, video game, or perhaps even a comic book. The journey of the page being adapted to the screen has been covered a lot. But little is the process spoken about in reverse.
The most well-known version of a film making its way into the publishing industry is through the classic novelization. Movie novelizations went through a popular period before the Internet existed. Fans wanted to keep learning more about the fictional worlds they had stepped. into and needed to experience the story again in a new way. They couldn’t simply google it, nor could they immediately get the production on tape. Therefore, the novelization was a great solution.
Novelizations were usually written by authors who were not in the movie-making process. Instead, they would receive the most complete version of the screenplay to hand and would begin to write their adaptation based on that document. Although changes could be made, there were times where a novelization didn’t actually reflect what happened on the screen because scenes could be cut or replaced and the novelizations were left outdated. But there’s also an advantage. The novelizations were a small piece of movie-making history in their own right. Massive films like Star Wars, ET, Back To The Future, and Alien all received their own page adaptation. It was a completely unique experience before the films were even available to watch. For a time, they were everything for cinema lovers.
Regardless of the influences on the tales, movie adaptations provide a creative outlet for new concepts to be developed. That’s a wonderful idea. which should be encouraged for those movies that never got a chance to continue on their path.
28. What does the underlined phrase “in reverse” in paragraph 1 mean
A. Equally. B. Oppositely. C. Similarly. D. Completely.
29. Why were movie novelizations popular before the Internet existed
A. They took the place of productions on tape.
B. They were adapted from up-to-date novels.
C. They satisfied fans’ curiosity in a different way.
D. They created a fictional world for people to first step in.
30. What is probably the disadvantage of a novelization
A. Its choosing the wrong story.
B. Its missing the point of the screenplay.
C. Its cutting and replacing movie scenes.
D. Its failing to match the original movie.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Novel-based Movies. B. Fast-developing Industries.
C. Film-to-book Adaptations. D. Well-known novelizations.
D
In 2016, Portia Putatunda, a former journalist, was sad by the loss of her father. “I felt lost without my father, who had always been my pillar (支柱) of support.” Her father was dedicated to assisting underprivileged (贫困的) children and firmly believed in the transformative power of education. The deep-rooted passion to help people was also long rooted in her.
Today, Putatunda runs a free boarding school in Komic. Situated at 15,500 feet, Komic is said to be the world’s highest village. The former journalist is now playing the role of a teacher, a caretaker and in many ways a motherly figure to these underprivileged children. “Starting a boarding school was a decision born out of necessity and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the region’s education.”
Having spent two years teaching local kids there, she realized that a centralized boarding school was the most logical and efficient solution. It would provide access to education for children from across the region, bridging the gap in educational opportunities.
According to her, a boarding school could not only address the transport difficulties but also ensure a safe learning environment for these children. Putatunda has been primarily using her savings to support the no-charging school. Additionally, she has received support from sponsors who have stepped up to help cover the costs of some students and the monthly expenses.
However, there are still some problems listed by Putatunda. Limited manpower, difficulties in construction and transportation, and harsh weather conditions are the major difficulties that come in the way of her mission. “Knowledge sharing and finding similar role models in this remote region is also a challenging task. Additionally, Komic’s landscape overshadows the challenges, making every breath an effort,” she explains.
Despite the many barriers in Putatunda’s journey, she remains determined not to give up. “The unparalleled (无与伦比的) beauty of living at 15,500 feet makes me feel closer to heaven and my father. I long to adopt a child or two and make Komic my permanent home,” she signs off.
32. What motivates Putatunda to set up a boarding school
A. Her father’s influence. B. Her former job’s experiences.
C. Her passion for nature. D. Her desire to be a teacher.
33. What can we learn from the fourth paragraph
A. Putatunda’s school may lack funds. B. Students can access the school easily.
C. Students experienced increased school fees. D. Putatunda limited educational opportunities.
34. What are Putatunda’s plans for the future
A. Attracting more people to work there.
B. Taking on Komic’s landscape challenges.
C Planning to get married in the boarding school.
D. Intending to stay in Komic permanently.
35. What is the main idea of this text
A. Devoted students will make a big difference.
B. The difficult process of constructing a school.
C. A girl and her father work together to run a school.
D. A former journalist dedicated to education in the mountains.

The neighborhood residents often enjoyed walking around the lake in the park, and on this pleasant day, with the sun casting its warm light, Katie spent the unhurried moments devoted to her jumping routine.
Her thoughts were focused on her jumping: how to match the spinning of the jump rope in her hands and the jumping of her feet so that they didn’t get mixed, causing her to trip. When her mind and muscles were working together, and when every move flowed smoothly, all of it felt pretty good in the afternoon sunshine. While jumping, she remembered that her grandmother had given her the jump rope for Christmas. She knew that her grandmother didn’t have a lot of money and had to save up to buy the jump rope for her. Before Christmas, her grandmother had taken her to some toy shops to look at different things, hoping to find out what Katie wanted. When Katie finally got the gift, it was not just a jump rope but the very jump rope she had wanted for a long time. She felt especially loved by her considerate grandmother.
The warmth of the afternoon sun enhanced the joy Katie felt as she skipped along. Suddenly a boy rushed across the road to her. Without any warning he robbed her of her jump rope, shouting, “Give me that” and raced back across the road towards the park.
Empty-handed, Katie was left in confusion. It took her a while to recover from the shock. When she came to her senses and realized the theft of her grandma’s gift, tear swelled up. A wave of anger and disappointment swept over her. But in that moment of upset, something unusual in the park captured her attention.

根据上文“Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym.(绿色运动是一个术语,用于描述在自然环境中进行的任何类型的体育锻炼,而不是在健身俱乐部或健身房中。)”开头介绍绿色运动不同于在健身房的锻炼,空格处承上启下,以及后文的“Instead,”表明空格处的意义与后文相反。因此,空格处应继续说明绿色运动与健身房运动的不同之处,F项“It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym (它通常不使用健身房里常见的健身器材)”符合文意,提到了“gym”,与上下文一致。故选F。
【37题】
根据后文“For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers. Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes.(例如,一些人认为,真正自然的运动体验要求人只穿天然纤维制成的衣服。其他人则认为赤脚跑步或在大型竞技场上行走,比穿着鞋子跑步或行走更可取。)”从两个方面举例说明了两种不同的绿色运动方式。因此空格处总结性说明不同的人,对于什么是真正的绿色运动观点不同。C项“Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ (人们对什么是真正的绿色运动意见不一)”符合文意。故选C。
【38题】
根据后文“Similarly, climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise.(同样,使用标准设备和防护服爬山也将被视为绿色运动。)”表明什么样的锻炼会被视为绿色运动,由“Similarly,”可知,空格处也是在介绍绿色运动的类型,而E项中“can be called a type of green exercise”与后文中的“also be considered a green exercise”结构一致,都是在介绍绿色运动的类型,E项“So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise (因此,在森林里骑自行车可以被称为一种绿色运动)”符合文意。故选E。
【39题】
根据前文“The interaction with nature helps to lower peoples’ blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem.(与大自然的互动有助于降低人们的血压,更新他们的思维,并真正地提高他们的自尊。)”介绍了绿色运动对于身体、头脑和心理健康的优点,而B项“Spirits are also believed to be positively affected (人们认为,精神也会受到积极影响)”承接上文,接着说明了绿色运动在精神上的积极影响。故选B。
【40题】
根据上文“Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym.(并非所有人都认为绿色运动比在健身俱乐部或健身房锻炼更有益。)”可知,该段在介绍另一种观点,指出使用健身器材锻炼也有好处,以及“Meanwhile, …”后文说明使用健身器材有利于增强心肺功能。因此,空格处也是在讲述健身俱乐部或者健身房的优点,G项“Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light (一些人指出,许多健身俱乐部都是为了充分利用自然光而建的)”符合文意,其中的“many health clubs”与上文的“in a health club or gym”上下一致。故选G。

第二节(满分 25分)
77. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的。
Katie was happily jumping rope on the grass in front of her house facing the expansive city park just across the road.

1.续写词数应为150左右;

【答案】
Following the boy quickly, she spotted a group of kids crying anxiously by the lake. The boy who had taken her jump rope was sprinting towards them. As Katie neared the water, she saw, to her horror, a little girl was struggling in the water. The boy was throwing one end of Katie’s jump rope out for the child to grab. Fortunately, the little girl caught hold of it. Without a moment’s hesitation, Katie stepped forward to lend a helping hand. Working in tandem, they pulled the child onto the bank.
After making sure the drowning girl was okay, the boy walked up to Katie with the jump rope. Handing it to Katie, he gave a shy smile and apologized, “I’m sorry if I frightened you just now, but I had to act quickly in an emergency. I can’t swim, you know. It was your jump rope that served as a lifeline.” Katie’s initial anger had transformed into appreciation for the boy’s quick response to save the little girl. She replied she didn’t mind her jump rope being snatched at all. Instead, she was glad about the part her jump rope had played in the rescue.
