Unit 7 Teenagers should be allowed to choose their own clothes.
Section A (1a-1c) 教学设计
Teaching aims:
According to New National English Curriculum, our general task is to develop students’ comprehensive language application. So I make three aims, the knowledge aims, ability aims and emotional aims.
Knowledge aims:
Students can master the new words and expressions.
Students can master the structure: should (not) be allowed to do to express their opinions.
Ability aims:
Enable students to talk about rules around us and show agree/ disagree.
Develop students' 4 basic skills with the target language.
Emotional aims:
Help students cultivate a good habit of obeying the rules.
Teaching important points and difficulties:
In my opinion, the teaching important and difficult points are based on the teaching material's status and function.
The important point is to make sure that students can master new words, phrases and sentences.
And the difficult points are to help students use should(not) be allowed to do to talk about what they are allowed to do and not allowed to do and use agree/disagree to present their own opinions correctly.
Teaching Methods:
Situational teaching method, Audio-visual teaching method and Task-based teaching method.
The learning methods are Cooperative learning method and Autonomous learning method.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Lead in
I will begin my class by playing a video. This video is about the development of Chinese school uniforms.
Then, I’ll show two pictures about my students’ school uniforms and two questions.
After that, I show some pictures and ask them to choose their favorite clothes.
The purpose is to form a better English environment and to provide situation to raise students’ interest and curiosity.
Step 2: Presentation
Presentation 1: Words and expressions
Present the new words and expressions. Let students read them together. Here, I make two word cards to help them have a correct pronunciation.
Play a Pk game “Chinese--English & English--Chinese”.
The purpose is to create active classroom atmosphere and deepen their mastery of new words.
Presentation 2: Look and say
1. Show some pictures, questions and lead in the target language. I’ll ask different students, different groups to answer and read them. Teach students the structure of Sb should(not) be allowed to do sth.
2. Guide students to make new sentences to expand these activities.
3. Show some pictures and “agree/ disagree” sentences to let students express their opinions.
The purpose is that it can not only make them master the target language further, but also broaden students’ minds and help them participate in the class actively.
Step 3: Pair work
Ask two students to read the dialogue in 1c to the class and make sure all the students understand the dialogue.
Let students make new dialogues and practice in pairs. As they work, I’ll move around the room and answer any questions they may have.
After that, I will ask some pairs to act it out in front of the class and give them some evaluation.
The purpose is to practice speaking skills by using the target language and develop Ss’ ability of communication and cooperation.
Step 4: Listening
This step covers 3 tasks which are 1b, 2a and 2b.
Read the instructions to the class in 1b and give students 10 seconds to get ready. Listen to the tape three times.The first time, students just listen. The second time, students need to circle T(for true) or F(for false). The third time, students fill in the blanks and check the answers with the whole class.
Ask students to circle what Kathy and Molly thinks in 2a and number the reasons in the correct order in 2b.
The purpose is to improve students’ listening skills.
Step 5: Group work
The group work is to choose “Who is the best actor ”.
I’ll explain the instructions to students, and give them 4 minutes to finish it. When they do it, I’ll walk around and give them help.
When they finish, I’ll take photos of their writings and use 投屏 to upload.
Then, ask some groups to make a report and choose the best actor.
The purpose is to develop students’ comprehensive ability by cooperate with others.
Step 6: Summary
I will help student summarize what they have learned in this lesson.
The Purpose is to consolidate today’s knowledge.
Step 7: Homework
分层作业:
必做:1. Review the phrases and sentences in this lesson and make 5 conversations. 2. Write 5 school rules with“be (not) allowed to do sth”
选做:Write an article about your family rules.
