设计思路:
两位总统→→昆西→昆西的商店、影院→→贝蒂的家→→贝蒂的童年生活
教材分析:
本课描述的是贝蒂在昆西的童年生活，而昆西又名“总统之城”，它因出生并埋葬了两任美国总统而闻名。因此我从John Adams 和John Quincy Adams 两位总统入手，简单介绍他们的生平，以引出他们的出生地昆西。让学生初步了解昆西的情况下，了解主人翁贝蒂的家，从而进一步了解贝蒂在昆西的童年生活。
教学过程：
一、情景导入
通过展示图片，介绍聊城古今的变化，引入There be 的过去式 There was，通过孔繁森到两位美国总统，即引入本课的人物----Betty，又检测了学生对过去式的掌握程度。然后简单介绍两位总统的生平和昆西的概况，以及贝蒂的家庭生活。展示了本课的重点词汇和重要句子，为学生自主阅读课文做好铺垫，减轻语言障碍。如：
He was born in Quincy twelve years ago. A comfortable house with a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and three bedrooms等。
